MGM gets a CHILD'S PLAY remake started

Horror reboots are all the rage these days, continue to capture Hollywood’s imagination and attention. We’ve so far seen remakes of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, HALLOWEEN, and even A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. Now it looks like MGM wants to bring one of their classic franchises back from its slumber in a series reboot.

MGM is reportedly trying to put out a reboot of the CHILD’S PLAY franchise starring everyone’s favorite killer doll, Chucky. The studio released the original film, while Universal put out all the sequels to the series. Because of this, there was a little bit of a rights dispute over the franchise. That has since been ironed out, and MGM will be releasing the reboot. It has been described as a darker version of the original story. DIRTY GRANDPA coming to a theater near you

Sometimes a film comes along that seems so absurd that it might just work. Even the title can be something so succinct and to the point, yet perfect for that exact reason. This is one of those stories.

Universal has decided to pick up a film called DIRTY GRANDPA, which is seemingly about…a dirty grandfather. The film is set to be “an R-rated comedy centered on a recently widowed, sexually aggressive grandfather on a road trip with his straight-laced grandson.” The grandfather also realizes that his grandson’s fiancée isn’t right for him, and tries to resolve the issue. Seth MacFarlane's TED might get Mark Wahlberg?

A little story hit the web back in April about Fox’s starchild Seth MacFarlane getting a stab at his first feature, a film called TED. Nothing much was known about the project at the time, other than the base synopsis and a few small facts.

His three animated series (Family Guy, American Dad, The Cleveland Show) has lead to fantastic ratings for the Fox network on Sunday nights; but despite all of this, his big directorial debut will be made with Universal instead of Fox, because of its hard R rating.
