Universal is making a superhero FRANKENSTEIN film

THE WOLFMAN is hitting theaters soon with a surprisingly high amount of buzz behind it. The other day we reported that Sam Worthington might be taking up the mantle of Dracula in DRACULA: YEAR ZERO. Now Universal wants to revisit another old favorite – FRANKENSTEIN.

This wouldn’t be your mom and dad’s FRANKENSTEIN though; in fact, Mary Shelley wouldn’t even recognize her creation. Universal wants to make Frankenstein’s Monster into some sort of superhero. The idea behind the film is that The Monster would attempt to save the human race from an uprising of monsters. The film will be directed by Patrick Tatopoulos, director of UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS.

I usually love movies where different tales come together for a cohesive story, but this one reminds me a little too much of LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMAN. I feel that the success of this film will come down completely to the execution. There is a certain way to make this film like this. If they can figure it out, then Universal will probably have a hit on their hands.
