CONTAGION adds John Hawkes to its cast

John Hawkes is an actor that most people most likely recognize from films they have seen, but they might not know his name off the top of their heads. This is a shame, because Hawkes is a damn fine actor. If you need proof, look no further than ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW, where he successfully leads an ensemble cast into greatness.

Now he is going to be showing up in the great Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming film, CONTAGION. Continue reading “CONTAGION adds John Hawkes to its cast”

Bruce Willis is pretty RED in this poster

We all know that Bruce Willis is the embodiment of bad-ass, and you’re more than welcome to look at his filmography as proof. Sometimes, it can be hard to separate him from that persona that he has built for himself. Although this new character poster from the upcoming film RED might not be doing him any favors in that regard, that doesn’t stop it from being pretty cool.

Check out the full poster after the break! Continue reading “Bruce Willis is pretty RED in this poster”

GATW Podcast Ep. 17: Reboot Benders

Sometimes you just have to start over, and last week’s big release is proof of that. That would be Robert Rodriguez’s PREDATORS, a new fresh take on the PREDATOR franchise. We figured we’d talk about our dream reboot franchises, and who should work on them. Needless to say, things got pretty nostalgic.

You can check out the episode and its synopsis after the break! Continue reading “GATW Podcast Ep. 17: Reboot Benders”

HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" gets a premiere date

It really isn’t TV, it’s HBO. It’s something so much more than your standard television fare and, along with Showtime and AMC, HBO is changing the way people think of cable shows. HBO’s next big show Boardwalk Empire, which was co-created by Martin Scorsese,  finally has a premiere date.

The show will premiere on September 19 at 9 PM, most likely to very high viewership (all their shows always premiere well). HBO has been running the trailer almost non-stop lately, and gives off a vibe that screams “prohibition era version of The Sopranos.” If that formula doesn’t scream ridiculous success, then Scorsese’s involvement certainly does. Of course, the excitement has now been multiplied due to Chris Evans, the man who will don the costume, talking about his thoughts on it.

Check out what he had to say about the costume after the jump! Continue reading “Chris Evans talks CAPTAIN AMERICA costume”

Seeing SHERLOCK HOLMES was one of the first things I did at GATW which gives it a really special place in my heart. But that isn’t the only reason this flick is great, from the performances to Guy Ritchie’s superb direction, this film got it right.

Robert Rodriguez doing a rewrite on SIN CITY 2

Whenever Robert Rodriguez comes to mind, memories of all the great times I’ve had with his past films take precedent. At the same time, he doesn’t get into the director’s chair as often as I’d like (with R-rated films that is).

The sequel to one of his best recent films, SIN CITY 2, has long been on-and-off much to fans’ chagrin. Word is finally out on the current state of the film, and it is still on. Continue reading “Robert Rodriguez doing a rewrite on SIN CITY 2”
