Cartoon Network to bring us DC Nation

The DC Universe is having quite a boom in prominence right now, especially when you consider all of the DC films coming out in the next couple years. They have the GREEN LANTERN film this summer, and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and Zack Snyder’s Superman film around the corner.

Now they’re looking to breathe a new life in their already booming animated factor by bringing us a DC-branded block of programming on Cartoon Network. You can check out some bits from the press release after the break!

In the press release, the block is described as:

“A multi-platform, branded block of original programming and exclusive content based on the DC Comics library of legendary character properties, DC Nation is developed in partnership with Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment. The all-new venture will harness the publishing, theatrical and television assets together for one powerful on-air block on Cartoon Network with exclusive online content.”

I love the concept, this could be the place to go for exclusive info about the happenings of the DC Universe. Imagine getting behind the scenes looks at the upcoming films during the commercial break of a DC Themed show. On top of that, they could even debut trailers for their films here as a way to get people to tune into the block.

I must admit my bias straightforward, I’m a hardcore Marvelite to my very core, and the DC Universe has never really got me hooked. However, with the quality they seem to be putting into their film sector as of late, they’ve got me interested. Not to mention, how great the straight-to-DVD movies they have been putting out lately have been. That’s one place where they surpass Marvel by leaps and bounds.

I’ll be tuning into DC Nation for sure, what do you guys think of the announcement?

  1. So very looking forward to this. DC Universe was always my favorite, it was their comics my dad had, and that I read growing up. And I have been beyond impressed with the DC Animated films. All really top notch. If we get a full block on Cartoon Network (and gasp Cartoon Network actually doing more cartoon programming! :p ) then I’ll definitely be looking for it.
