Is Casper, the world's friendliest ghost, returning to the big screen?

I remember seeing the CASPER movie in theaters as a kiddo and loving every second of it. My grandma had previously introduced me to the character, so it was only fitting that she was the one to take me to see it. That viewing was only topped by the many VHS viewings I had in the following years.

It seems that Casper might be making his big screen return, as Classic Media is taking a chance at rebooting the franchise.

This will be the first Casper film to hit theaters since the 1995 film, as all the following films were straight-to-video features. Currently, all details of the film are under wraps, but many speculate that the story would follow a 2009 Casper comic called Casper and the Spectrals.

This seems right in line with all the other classic series reboots we have had in the past several years, and would be joining the ranks of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS, YOGI BEAR, and THE SMURFS. We can only hope that the new CASPER film is much better than those films and holds a closer resemblance to the 1995 film.

What do you guys think about CASPER getting the reboot treatment?
