THE MUPPETS MOVIE release date moved to Thanksgiving 2011

The release of the next Muppet movie, now called THE MUPPETS MOVIE, couldn’t come any sooner, as it seems like a project I’ve been waiting years for. Of course, we should all just be glad that it is indeed happening. Now it looks as though the wait will be a little bit shorter than anticipated, as Disney has moved the release date up from Christmas 2011, to Thanksgiving 2011.

Hit the break to see what Disney had to say about the move!

“Disney has had incredible success opening films over the Thanksgiving weekend, and thanks to Tangled, we have the top three Thanksgiving openers of all time…I have spoken with The Muppets, and we all agreed this comedy is a great fit for the holiday 2011 time frame.”

Needless to say, it seems that Disney is putting a lot of faith into the appeal of the Muppets. I’d like to think that the rest of the public’s feelings about the Muppets are just as strong as mine, but only time will tell. Until then, we can only appreciate the faith and care Disney is giving them. Maybe it’ll pay off.

  1. Faith, schmaith. Disney moved the Muppets because the competition at Xmas 2011 is too fierce, what with Spielberg’s Tintin movie and a new Alvin. Thanksgiving weekend 2011 is a little less daunting.

But Kermit’ll still probably croak the box office. 😀
