The Warner Bros. GREEN LANTERN film is fast approaching, and the studio seems to be building it up to be one of their biggest superhero franchises and a tentpole summer blockbuster. Needless to say, the buzz over the Ryan Reynolds-starring film hasn’t been too bad either. There’s almost no doubt that the film will be huge, and Warner has recognized that.
To prove their faith, they have already hired a writer to write a sequel.
Michael Goldenberg, who wrote HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX has been picked up to pen the next LANTERN film. Goldenberg seems like a good fit for the job, considering he also did an uncredited re-write of the first film.
It’s no surprise that a sequel was likely to be produced, but could it be too early for them to be thinking sequels? Probably. Maybe. At this point I think that it is all dependent on how the first film turns out, and we’ve still got a year to mull it over, as the first film isn’t set to hit theaters until June 17, 2011.
