Guillermo del Toro to jump in the video game business

Not a lot of people know this, but before film took over every facet of my being, video games were my thing. As much as I still love gaming, it can be hard to find the time to play something. So now, a game  has to be really cinematic and quite good to convince me to put my life on hold till I beat it.

For any gamers out there, you might recognize names like Ron Gilbert, Cliff Bleszinski, Peter Molyneux. Soon, PAN’S LABYRINTH director Guillermo del Toro might be joining their ranks as a name in gaming.

Del Toro is finalizing a deal with THQ to produce a series of games that are supposed to be rather ambitious, and rather adult. This seems pretty in-line with a lot of his films, and we all know what quality comes out of a del Toro picture. Should we doubt he’ll bring the same quality to a game?

My mind certainly isn’t wavering from the possibilities, these games could be really amazing. Hopefully THQ puts in the kind of resources that the games would most likely need, and doesn’t end up like John Woo’s Stranglehold.

  1. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free.
