As a ridiculously obsessed Muppet fan, I am more excited for the latest Muppet film than many of the other big projects currently in development. It seems that the stars have aligned for this iteration of our reticulated polyfoam crafted friends, as true Muppet lovers Jason Segal and Nicolas Stoller have penned the script. Now it is getting even better, because Pixar is being brought in to consult on the film.
Although bringing in another studio for consultation often means that the film sucks, and these people need to make it unsuck, that doesn’t seem to be the case for this project. It seems that Pixar’s nonstop success is the sole reason they are being brought in. If you really want something you’re making to be great, why not go to the pros.
Any signs that could point to this film being a success are worth pointing out, because of my dream that The Muppet Show might come back. If this movie is huge, then it might be likely that we get more Muppets more frequently. Hopefully, with Pixar’s help, that dream can become a reality.
