BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy finally hits on Blu-ray

There are three trilogies that I feel need to be on Blu-ray, but unfortunately have not made the HD jump yet. These trilogies happen to be STAR WARS, INDIANA JONES, and BACK TO THE FUTURE. Today is officially a good news day as Robert Zemeckis’ hit trilogy will be released on Blu later this year.

The set will be released as a “25th Anniversary Trilogy” and will have new bonus features that are sure to be pretty neat. One of the most exciting things to be included on the disc is footage featuring Eric Stoltz in the role of Marty. For those who aren’t familiar with the story, Eric Stoltz was originally cast as the hero but was replaced after shooting began. This will be the first time something other than photos have been put out.

BTTF.net also got to speak to writer/producer Bob Gale, and this is what he said of the HD transfers:

“The HD transfers for all three films are simply breath-taking…They actually look better than they did in the theater because of the incredible job that was done on dirt clean-up. (And the film grain is preserved, so they still look like movies should look.)”

This set is one that i’ve been anxiously awaiting since the moment I first un-boxed my Blu-ray player. I guarantee I’ll be in line to pick it up the moment it is realeased October 26, 2010.
