A couple of months back, I reported on a new version of THE THREE MUSKETEERS being produced, and that it was being written by Peter Straughan (THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS). Aside from the fact that it was being made and that Straughan was penning it, we knew nothing else about the project. But according to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Heat Vision blog, it looks like Doug Liman might be the man to realize the book to screen.
Liman has made big movies like this before with THE BOURNE IDENTITY, JUMPER, and MR. AND MRS. SMITH (you’re bound to like one of them), which makes it exciting to see what direction he would take his THREE MUSKETEERS. It will be nice to see his style of action movie put into the MUSKETEERS’ setting. The film is also expected to be in 3D, but we can only hope it isn’t done in post-production.
The film also has SHERLOCK HOLMES producer Lionel Wigram on board which means, if the film has a fraction of that HOLMES charm, I’m on board. We’ll just have to wait and see what Liman does for the project, but I have high hopes.

James Purefoy has got to be one of the Musketeers. Though it seems kind of pointless to me. There's already a number of versions of this movie. I don't see how we would need another. But, since its inevitable, I will see them in theaters only if released on the same day. New York liposuctions
