THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO sequels have a U.S. release date

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, based off a book series by Stieg Larson, has become a worldwide obsession in a very short amount of time. The book and it’s two subsequent sequels were then adapted to film, all of which deemed very successful when released in Europe last year. The first film of the trilogy hit the states on March 19th to reviews so positive, that it would probably give Kevin Smith an aneurysm.

The distributors of the film, Music Box Films, are very happy to let us know that the sequel films THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE and THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNETS’ NEST will be getting a U.S. release this spring. Fantastic news for anyone who saw DRAGON TATTOO, as you are probably needing your next fix already.

Also fueling the fire of the series, are rumors of a US adaptation helmed by David Fincher. Although I’d be the first to say that Fincher deserves any project he can get his hands on, an American version seems really unnecessary. Aside from the language, the original film already has the US feel. Plus, it would be hard to replace the original cast since they did such an amazing job on the original. As far as the remake goes, I’ll leave you with this. In Fincher we trust.
