New poster for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET

When the remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET was first announced, I didn’t know a single person that was excited about it. The biggest question was if Robert Englund would reprise the role of Freddy Krueger, which he played for two decades. People believed he was the only person that could ever play Freddy, until Jackie Earle Haley was announced as Freddy. It was amazing how quick people got on the side of the film after that.

The film is almost here whether you like it or not, and they’ve provided us another peek at Freddy with a new poster. You can check it out after the jump!

I think that Jackie Earle Haley looks really great as Freddy and was a perfect casting choice. The smirk he has in the poster really freaks me out, and gives me hope that he’ll have the classic Freddy attitude in this remake.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET will be haunting your dreams on April 30th.

One, two, Freddy’s coming for you.

  1. I read the script and wasn't blown away, but I'm looking forward to this film anyway. There's something great about having a Nightmare on Elm Street film in release. The poster's okay. I could see it getting the lenticular treatment though, being composited with the first poster, where from one angle you see him covering up his mouth, in shadow, then from another angle we see him lower his glove and his face becomes more defined.

  3. I agree that the poster isn't particularly exciting, but I think that is kind of the point. They want to tease Freddy a bit, but they can't do it completely because we know who Freddy is. Think of it this way, in CLOVERFIELD if they had the monster on the poster, it would have been really lame. Since we know who Freddy is and looks like they want to show him some, but this is a new Freddy. I can see the Lenticular version too actually.

  4. I too have read the script, and I must say, I was actually quite impressed. Not really a big fan of the poster, but I have really dug what I've seen of it so far, and I think Haley is as good of a casting decision for Kruger as they could have done. Looking forward to it!
