The Invaders will breach FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA

Here we go with some more FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA information. It seems like every single day we are getting some new tidbit of info about the film. This time it’s plot related instead of casting, which is most of the info we’ve been getting lately, directly from the mouth of the film’s director Joe Johnston.

According to Johnston, the Nazi-fightin’ super-team called The Invaders, will be featured in the entire second half of the film. He also admitted that the team will have six members, which can be troublesome as most comic-book movies feel muddled when there are that many characters. Of course it could be pulled off, there is a subtle way to execute this sort of thing. Hopefully Johnston can do it.

For those who don’t know who The Invaders were, they were a super-team consisting of Marvel’s biggest golden age heroes. The roster included Namor, The Human Torch (not of the fantastic four), Bucky, and Union Jack. It will be really interesting to see all these heroes adapted to the big screen, as I couldn’t really imagine a Namor movie otherwise.

While Johnston was at it, he also revealed who the villain will be in the film. If you’re a Captain America fan, I’m sure it was obvious all along. The villain will be Captain Americas arch-nemesis and ultimate foe, The Red Skull. I really couldn’t imagine it any other way.

The thing that might not be understood about having Red Skull as the villain is that it really opens things up for THE AVENGERS. The Red Skull has his hand in ever facet of the Marvel universe, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is worked into the plot of THE AVENGERS.

What do you guys think about all this crazy news?

  1. Also agree with #1. Every single time First Blood is on TV I watch it (which has been happening a lot on AMC). Just a damn good movie. Really original protagonist and some really good antagonists too.
