Cartoon Network to bring us DC Nation

The DC Universe is having quite a boom in prominence right now, especially when you consider all of the DC films coming out in the next couple years. They have the GREEN LANTERN film this summer, and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and Zack Snyder’s Superman film around the corner.

Now they’re looking to breathe a new life in their already booming animated factor by bringing us a DC-branded block of programming on Cartoon Network. You can check out some bits from the press release after the break! Continue reading “Cartoon Network to bring us DC Nation”

Pitch for movie about Acme Warehouse picked up by WB

I’ve never kept my love for all things Looney Tunes a secret, in fact I can remember being quite vocal about it in the recent past. Recently, WB has brought back their famous franchise as a series of shorts, and now they want to bank off the series.

Warner Bros. has picked up a pitch for a film about the company that provides all the zany weapons to the characters, Acme. Check out the details after the break. Continue reading “Pitch for movie about Acme Warehouse picked up by WB”

IT film gets a major update

When I was a wee little lad, the mini-series of IT used to scare the living clown shoes off of me. Back in those days of yore, it was hard to think of anything scarier. Luckily for me, a fear of clowns was not preserved (unless they have sharp teeth), and I’ve moved on to more frightening media. I am however afraid that the upcoming film version will bring the fear back, and according to the update out today, the project is still on it’s way.

You can check out the update by the writer Dave Kajganich after the break. Continue reading “IT film gets a major update”

Cast of THE HANGOVER officially signs on for sequel

THE HANGOVER 2 has been a sure thing for a very long time now, but technically the cast wasn’t. When the first film was made, there was no expectation that it would reach the ridiculous success it ultimately did, so franchise deals for the main cast weren’t established. Of course, no one doubted they would come back for the second film, and now it is a sure thing as the cast have officially signed deals. Kevin Smith pitching HIT SOMEBODY to studios

Kevin Smith is one of my favorite writers in film today. Even in his most mentally void films, there is still a level of witty and clever humor. He really hit his stride with ZACK & MIRI MAKE A PORNO, which he is following up with COP OUT (which Smith has not written and is only directing). Unfortunately, COP OUT doesn’t look as good as we may have been hoping, but Smith is now trying to get the ball rolling on HIT SOMEBODY and get a studio attached. Character concept art from GREEN LANTERN

In the past couple of years, GREEN LANTERN has become one of DC’s flagship series. What was once an old and tired idea and character has been revitalized thanks to the brilliant writing of Geoff Johns. As we all know, there is a GREEN LANTERN movie on its way that is being directed by Martin Campbell. Now we have somewhat of an idea what the film’s visual style will look like, as some concept art has come out of Kilowog and Tomar-Re.

You can check out the concept art after the jump! Continue reading “Character concept art from GREEN LANTERN”

Blu-ray Review: WHITEOUT

Blu-ray Rating: 3/10

If you want to read an actual review of the film, you can read James’ review here. This review will only cover the Blu-ray and its special features.

I don’t know what it is about snow that makes it look so pretty in HD, but it does. Because of this WHITEOUT is gorgeous, and is the perfect setting for a Blu-ray. But unfortunately that is just about the only exciting thing about this disc. Oh, there is a digital copy, that is kind of cool, I guess. There are a couple special features and they aren’t bad at all, I actually somewhat enjoyed them, but there are so few features that it is immensely disappointing. Warner Bros. is most profitable studio this year

Warner Bros

Well, I don’t know if this surprises anyone after the string of high quality hits Warner Bros. Pictures has had come out in the past year. The HARRY POTTER series alone constantly brings in at least $800 million worldwide per release. With all the other releases they’ve had this year, such as THE HANGOVER (which basically printed money), they have easily acquired this top position. Warner Bros. is making MARVIN THE MARTIAN movie

MARVIN THE MARTIAN

Move over Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, there is a new Looney Tune going front and center. MARVIN THE MARTIAN is booked to get the big screen treatment, solo-style. The movie will be a CG and live action hybrid, with Marvin being CG and the rest of the world being live action.

The film also has a director, Alex Zamm, who was attached to the live-action HONG KONG PHOOEY film we reported about over the summer. Also attached to the project are writers Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove, who previously wrote for “Spin City,” and are currently writing a feature-length CHIPS movie. Additionally, they are looking at some big names to voice the Martian, like Mike Myers. Continue reading “Warner Bros. is making MARVIN THE MARTIAN movie”
