Twi-hards gather! Although the finale to the TWILIGHT film series is just around the corner, that doesn’t mean that Stephenie Meyer’s work is done with the big screen. A film adaptation of her other book is on its way faster than you can say vampire baseball.
Now we are getting our first look at the film through this brand new teaser trailer!
TWILIGHT fans rejoice! The upcoming film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s other book, THE HOST, is going to be hitting a theater near you. Of course, one can only expect this considering the immense popularity of TWILIGHT, the fact that HANNA star Saoirse Ronan is set to play the lead character, and that Andrew Niccol both penned the script and will direct. Either way, the film has gotten its U.S. distributor.
The film will be distributed by Open Road, a company created by movie theater companies AMC and Regal, who will be putting the film into theaters everywhere upon its release. The distribution is said to have had some tough competition in the mix, with three other distributors after the rights. We’ve known that a television series version of teen classic TEEN WOLF has been brewing over at MTV for a pretty long time now, with little information known about the show. Would it be in the vein of the Michael J. Fox film, or would it be something completely different altogether?

Lately I’ve been reminded first-hand how much I really love MONSTERS, INC., as it has been playing on the movie channels nonstop the past couple of weeks. Ironically, that was exactly how my love for the film was first formed. Still, nine years later the film still has the same effect on me.

After the immeasurable success that TWILIGHT has become, it makes sense that all the studios would want to bank on that success. While TV shows like “True Blood” and “Vampire Diaries” have been extremely successful, CIRQUE DU FREAK: THE VAMPIRE’S ASSISTANT didn’t catch on when it was released a couple of months ago. Now Disney wants their shot.
Disney optioned the rights to FALLEN, which is based off the first novel by Lauren Kate in her four book series, about a young girl who is torn between the love of two fallen angels who battle for her. Yeah, it does sound a lot like TWILIGHT with angels. I think Disney might be looking ahead with this one. With LEGION coming out next month, there could be a renewed interest in fallen angel movies.
This could be a good movie, most likely it will be a TWILIGHT clone though. I’m curious, though – who would win in an all-out battle royale between fallen angels and vampires? Let me know in the comments below!
