UPDATED: Alec Baldwin wants to be replaced on ROCK OF AGES

UPDATED: Deadline now reports that Baldwin is staying with the film.

Alec Baldwin is a pretty amazing actor who has, in recent years, proved himself as an extremely likable comedic force. From films like IT’S COMPLICATED to his role in the NBC sitcom 30 Rock, Baldwin is at the top of his game. His next big role was set to be in the film adaptation of a Broadway musical called ROCK OF AGES.

It seems, however, that Baldwin might not end up in the film after all.

According to Deadline, Baldwin has asked New Line to replace him in the film. The part in question is that of a Bourbon Room owner named Dennis Dupree, an important role in the film that has a big musical number with it. Other popular comedic actors such as Steve Carell and Will Ferrell passed on the role, so now New Line will have to look even harder. If you’re a MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE fan like I am, you are without a doubt dying of anticipation for the Brad Bird-directed sequel MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL. Brad Bird getting in the director’s chair has led to renewed fan interest, as he is truly a phenomenal director.

Josh Holloway joins next MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE

Despite what most people think of the franchise, I’m certainly a fan of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE series, especially after the third film. With all the additions that are being made to the cast and the new direction the series looks to be going in, the prospect of another sequel seems even more exciting.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 4 may not use MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE in the title?

Just the other day we got news that Jeremy Renner was set to co-star in the next MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE film, with Tom Cruise still set to lead. This is an exciting prospect for fans of the series, as the build-up of Keri Russell’s character in the third film was really interesting. Now we are getting word that that film will indeed be a sequel to the film series, but it won’t be MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE.
