THE AVENGERS is only a couple days away, so all of us at Gordon and the Whale want to make sure that you are in the know.
We’d like to present a new column: The Cheat Sheet.
This is your place to go if you got behind on the media frenzy, or even if you just want a reminder about the film. Below you will find a compilation of trailers, posters, clips, and some stuff you can buy about the movie at hand.
Get out your notebooks, kids.
It’s heading towards summer, which means that the cineplexes get filled with explosion-packed goodness, and all the big action blockbusters get released. Although we all have our favorites that we’re most excited about, there is no question that THE AVENGERS is the film I’m anticipating the most. This film is like a dream come true.
What I’ve been calling the AVENGERS media onslaught is in full-force, and we’ve been getting a ton of content directly from the Mouse-House. Today, we have got a ton of new images (a photopalooza if you will) showing off the look of the film.
Comic books are not only a staple of pop culture, but they also altered modern day action movies in a big way. Just look at their fairly recent history; they are time and time again some of the biggest films to hit the box office and these days, with movements like that of Marvel Studios, they are getting bigger and better. So here is our ode to comic books and comic movies.

THOR is just around the corner and excitement is at an all-time high for the project. Everyone is curious to see what the film will end up being like, and how it will tie itself into the upcoming AVENGERS movie. We had heard that we might have an Avenger show up in the film, but nothing had been confirmed. Until now.
Jeremy Renner’s portrayal as Hawkeye will apparently first happen in THOR, in what is assumed to be an extended cameo. At CinemaCon, Paramount showed off footage from the upcoming film and one scene involved Hawkeye working with Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson. Renner had several lines in the scene and even used his bow and arrow. No word yet if his part extends past this scene, though. Continue reading “Surprise cameo confirmed for THOR”
THOR is just on the horizon, and with things like trailers being released, it isn’t surprising that a lot of info is starting to come out about the film. The current rumor that is taking the Internet by storm is that one of THE AVENGERS is set to make a cameo in Kenneth Branagh’s THOR.

Hey there Marvelites! While the ultimate fate of the THOR film is still to be determined, Marvel is doing a pretty fantastic job hyping the film up. The only thing missing from the whole equation was a theatrical poster (and an official trailer, which will hit sometime this afternoon), which we now have. This poster absolutely proves that sometimes simpler is better.

Everyone is really happy and excited that THE AVENGERS is finally coming to fruition, especially comic lovers like myself. Unfortunately for us, we know very little about film, aside from casting and Joss Whedon’s direction. We’ve been patiently waiting for any little hint about the film, and we finally have some facts thanks to Whedon himself.

As the summer comes to a close, the theaters also begin to slow down as the big tent pole films have already passed. Although sometimes the costumes from THOR might seem a little… silly, there are moments like this one that get me back on the THOR train. One of my biggest fears about the costume was how the helmet would look, and now we finally are getting our first look at the final product.

There’s a little service that all of us GATW Podcasters use constantly; and that service is Netflix’s Watch Instantly option. After realizing we mention it in just about every episode, we decided it was due time to dedicate an episode to it. We really liked the idea a lot, and thought it would be cool to check up on the service every six months or so since its line-up is always changing. This will mark our first, and definitely not our last Netflix episode!
