Walter to return for MUPPETS sequel but Segel won't

In THE MUPPETS big return last year, a new character was created to help bridge that emotional link to the characters, a very manly Muppet named Walter. Walter was central to the new film, and the lynchpin to its plot. He was a lot of fun, and a welcome addition to the Muppet canon.

Luckily, they aren’t done with him yet. He will definitely be showing up in the sequel film. On a sadder note, it looks like other characters from the first film will not return. Continue reading “Walter to return for MUPPETS sequel but Segel won't”

Sequel to THE MUPPETS to be a caper film

Writing for the new MUPPETS movie is in full swing, with co-writer of the first film Nicholas Stoller and the director James Bobin at the lead. This comes off the heels of finding out that Jason Segel, who co-wrote the first film with Stoller would not be scripting its sequel.

We are starting to get an idea of what the sequel will be like, and now know that the film will be a caper film. Continue reading “Sequel to THE MUPPETS to be a caper film”

Jason Segel definitely out of THE MUPPETS sequel

Both a star of the big screen and the small screen, Jason Segel has been a very busy man for the past several years. All his life he has been a big Muppet fan, and due to his puppet Dracula musical scene from the 2008 film FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL (which was also written by Segel), he got the opportunity to write The Muppets big return.

Last week, I wrote up on how Jason Segel wasn’t going to be involved with the writing process of THE MUPPETS sequel, but now we are getting word that he will not star in the film either.

Sequel to THE MUPPETS moves forward without Jason Segel as screenwriter

The Muppets are back in a big way. Our felt covered friends were greeted with immense critical acclaim for their film THE MUPPETS, which went on to gross more than $150 million worldwide. With that kind of dough, I bet Kermit sings “Bein’ Green” with a slightly different connotation now.

Hot off the heels of their big Oscar win for best original song, The Muppets are celebrating by moving forward with a sequel to their big self-titled return to the silver screen without Jason Segel, the co-writer of the original. International MUPPETS poster hits the web

THE MUPPETS is fast approaching, and now that we have a full trailer for it, Disney is trying to tease us in any way possible. Things have been a little quiet since the release of the trailer, but now we have a brand new poster to feast our eyes on.

You can check out the full poster after the break! Continue reading “International MUPPETS poster hits the web”

First full trailer released for THE MUPPETS

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to play the music and it’s time to light the lights, because we finally have the first full trailer for the upcoming MUPPETS movie. After our three spoof teasers they have given us in promotion for the film, the romance teaser, The Fuzzy Pack, and of course their GREEN LANTERN spoof, we finally get a peek at the film itself.

You can check out the trailer after the break! Continue reading “First full trailer released for THE MUPPETS”

THE MUPPETS spoof us once again

THE MUPPETS are coming back in a big bad way, and in promotion of their return, they have been releasing quite a bit of content this summer. First they put out the Teaser Trailer, then they gave us the “Fuzzy Pack,” who we are so glad to have “backy back.” Now they are hitting us with one more spoof trailer to pacify us for a while.

This time we are getting their take on GREEN LANTERN, very naturally starring the greenest Muppet we know, Kermit. This trailer is probably my favorite of the spoof trailers, all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed. This one takes the joke one step further and decides to break the fourth wall – addressing one of the biggest concerns I have had with the film, just when are we getting a full trailer? Jason Segel has high hopes for FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT

Jason Segel is the man, I’m not really sure there is any other way to describe him. Not only is he in one of my favorite sitcoms on television (How I Met Your Mother) and on the forefront of bringing back The Muppets, he is also still working hard at his extremely solid feature film comedic career.

His next big film to release after THE MUPPETS will be FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT, a romantic comedy that is being written by both Segel and Nicholas Stoller. Segel claims this won’t be your everyday rom-com that we’ve grown accustomed to, and they are trying to make it very special. You can check out what he had to say after the break! THE MUPPETS MOVIE release date moved to Thanksgiving 2011

The release of the next Muppet movie, now called THE MUPPETS MOVIE, couldn’t come any sooner, as it seems like a project I’ve been waiting years for. Of course, we should all just be glad that it is indeed happening. Now it looks as though the wait will be a little bit shorter than anticipated, as Disney has moved the release date up from Christmas 2011, to Thanksgiving 2011.

Hit the break to see what Disney had to say about the move! Continue reading “THE MUPPETS MOVIE release date moved to Thanksgiving 2011”

Pixar is helping out on the new Muppet movie

As a ridiculously obsessed Muppet fan, I am more excited for the latest Muppet film than many of the other big projects currently in development. It seems that the stars have aligned for this iteration of our reticulated polyfoam crafted friends, as true Muppet lovers Jason Segal and Nicolas Stoller have penned the script. Now it is getting even better, because Pixar is being brought in to consult on the film. Continue reading “Pixar is helping out on the new Muppet movie”
