New production diary for THE HOBBIT shows off New Zealand and more

I’m not sure I’ve ever wanted to move as badly as I do now, all thanks to the new HOBBIT video production diary. This time, the focus is all put on New Zealand, the place that made LORD OF THE RINGS possible, and is now providing the same service to the prequel. First Look: Thorin Oakenshield from THE HOBBIT

Behold! The non-stop teases coming from the production of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of THE HOBBIT continues on today, with yet another look at one of the many dwarves that make up the cast of the film. For those who aren’t familiar with THE HOBBIT, the story is a lot more dwarf-centric than LORD OF THE RINGS is.

Thorin is a dwarf prince who has a personal vendetta against the film’s main villain, a dragon named Smaug. Smaug has killed many of Thorin’s family and their people, along with stealing their collection of gold and jewels. This is what leads Thorin and his company to Bilbo’s doorstep, where Gandalf suggests Bilbo join their journey. First Look: Kili and Fili from Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT

THE HOBBIT is on its way, with Peter Jackson behind the camera again, bringing J.R.R. Tolkien’s first published novel to life. As production on the film continues on, there has been a steady flow of teases being released, showing off characters and releasing a production diaries. Although I’ve been avoiding the diaries, as I’d like to watch them after the film is released, that won’t stop me from checking out character photos.

Are these the titles to the upcoming HOBBIT films?

THE HOBBIT is finally happening, and now we seem to be getting news bits about the film constantly. A couple of weeks ago we got a photo of most of the cast at a gathering, and before that we got word that Saoirse Ronan (who was in Peter Jackson’s last film THE LOVELY BONES) had joined the cast. It looks like the ball is actually rolling this time.

MGM and WB really want Peter Jackson to direct THE HOBBIT films

THE HOBBIT seems like a crazy mess right now, with rumors flying everywhere about who might take up the director’s chair now that Guillermo del Toro is no longer on the project. Just yesterday we reported that the studios behind the films, WB and MGM, were courting HARRY POTTER director David Yates to take up the mantle. This is still true according to today’s reports, but it appears he is second in the running, only behind Peter Jackson.
