Sundance 2011: Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend scoring brother's first feature, SOUND OF MY VOICE

When your brother has blown up on the music scene with his band’s most recent album, including smashing its way onto the Billboard Hot 200 at number one, it probably isn’t a bad idea to have him score your first feature film. That is certainly the case for Zal Batmanglij, brother of Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij.

The film in question is called SOUND OF MY VOICE, and it chronicles what happens when a couple joins a cult in California, particularly following their interactions with the cult’s leader. With a concept as interesting and intriguing as this, I can only wonder what Rostam’s score will sound like, especially since Vampire Weekend is known for their pop nature. Lionsgate will distribute Sundance 2010's BURIED

BURIED just premiered at Sundance the other day to rave reviews (in fact, you can see ours HERE). I don’t know too much about the film since I haven’t seen it yet, but I think it is better that way. I’d much rather be surprised when I do.
