D.J. Caruso in talks for sci-fi INVERTIGO

There are some directors, despite the way some of their films have gone, that you can’t help but root for. For me, D.J. Caruso is one of those filmmakers. I was so caught off guard by DISTURBIA, the modern day re-imaginging of REAR WINDOW, and was compelled by its charm and great performances. His follow-up films, EAGLE EYE and I AM NUMBER FOUR, didn’t quite pack the same punch.

Now Caruso is in talks for a new sci-fi picture called INVERTIGO. Continue reading “D.J. Caruso in talks for sci-fi INVERTIGO”

Denis Leary joins SPIDER-MAN cast

The floodgates of information on the new SPIDER-MAN film have officially opened the past couple of weeks, and every day it seems new information is beginning to come out about the film. Now we are starting to get information about some of the background characters in the film. One of those roles, that of Police Captain George Stacy, father to Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), will be portrayed by sometimes funny-man Denis Leary.

Leary is one of those actors who can completely encapsulate a role to a fault. He can convincingly take up a comedic role or a dramatic role and pull you in completely. He’s proven that time and time again, between his past comedic works, and his impressive work on Rescue Me. Continue reading “Denis Leary joins SPIDER-MAN cast”

Pick Mary Jane already; Dianna Agron now being considered for SPIDER-MAN reboot

It seems like we are having a new name being thrown into the “Who will end up playing Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming SPIDER-MAN reboot pot” every single day. Interestingly enough, they are finally getting into actresses that seem to be a lot more interesting for the role.

The other day, they finally added the obvious choice, Emma Stone, into the running. Now they’ve got another actress going at it that fits the bill really well. Continue reading “Pick Mary Jane already; Dianna Agron now being considered for SPIDER-MAN reboot”

THE TOURIST gets a release date

Although Angelina Jolie’s last flick SALT didn’t exactly resonate with the general public the way it was expected to, she is still one of the biggest names in the business.

Her next film, THE TOURIST, is almost sure-fire going to be a much bigger film than SALT, mostly due to Johnny Depp co-starring. Now we know just when the film will be coming out, as Sony has given the film a release date. Continue reading “THE TOURIST gets a release date”

David O. Russell no longer UNCHARTED

A while back, it was announced that director David O. Russell was going to be adapting one of my favorite video game series, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, into a feature film. Although the game is already incredibly cinematic, many fans agree that an UNCHARTED film would be a great supplement.

Now the film’s fate is a little more rocky, as Russell has left the project. Continue reading “David O. Russell no longer UNCHARTED”

David O. Russell to adapt Uncharted video game?

If you have a Playstation 3 game console, and haven’t played through the Uncharted series you aren’t only missing out on one of the best gaming experiences of last year but possibly of this entire console generation. The series is known for its cinematic nature (something Sony made prevalent in their marketing campaign), and could be the biggest downfall of the project. Now director David O. Russell might be coming aboard to try and adapt the game franchise to film. Continue reading “David O. Russell to adapt Uncharted video game?”

Sam Raimi to bring THE SHADOW to Fox?

THE SHADOW is a property that has been around for a very long time, starting with pulp novels and radio shows. Some of you might also remember a little 1994 film with Alec Baldwin. Well, there has been talk about a revitalization of the franchise at Sony with none other than Sam Raimi at the helm, but now we are hearing that that plan might have changed. Continue reading “Sam Raimi to bring THE SHADOW to Fox?”

FLASH GORDON update from director Breck Eisner

FLASH GORDON is one of those films that has long been rumored and fallen through each time. But this most recent incarnation seems like it actually might happen. The film is set to be directed by Breck Eisner who just recently directed a remake of THE CRAZIES (Rusty’s review can be found here). During some of his recent interviews for THE CRAZIES, he had a little bit to say about FLASH GORDON. Though the film is coming, he claims it won’t be as soon as you would think.

Check out what he had to say after the jump! Continue reading “FLASH GORDON update from director Breck Eisner”
