UPDATED: Emma Stone to join PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES?

Emma Stone

UPDATE: Deadline now reports that Stone has passed on the role.

Emma Stone is one of the biggest young actresses out there these days, whose popularity is only rivaled by her great talent. She has the tendency to raise a film up, and make it better than it really has any right being. Now she will be playing Gwen Stacey in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, casting could not have been any more perfect. I mean, haven’t you seen the photos?

Things don’t seem to be slowing down for her either, as it seems like she could be taking up the lead role in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES.

The film has looked at quite a few actresses for the part already, such as Mia Wasikowska and Anne Hathaway, but it seems they have found Stone to be more fitting. Fitting enough to where they have decided to officially offer her the role. If she accepts, then this film will further her zombie cred that she started gaining with 2009’s ZOMBIELAND. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES getting a rewrite by Marti Noxon

Seth Grahame-Smith is really booming in the movie industry right now with two of his novels currently being adapted to film. The first is ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, for which he also wrote the screenplay, followed by PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, which is set to be directed by Craig Gillespie. With the addition of Gillespie to PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES (after a number of directorial changes and rumors), a new writer has also come aboard to rewrite the script that David O. Russell first penned.

The new writer for the film will be Marti Noxon, who most recently wrote Gillespie’s last film, the FRIGHT NIGHT remake that is set to be released on August 19. The trailer for FRIGHT NIGHT looks really great, so it makes sense that Gillespie would want to bring on a writer that could more aptly make the script fit his vision and style a little more. Seth Grahame-Smith sells pitch for FROM MIA WITH LOVE

There’s a good chance that if you’re reading this site, you’re pretty excited for the upcoming adaptation of ABRAHAM LINCOLN, VAMPIRE HUNTER. The film is a geek dream, and it all seems to be working out pretty successfully. It seems as if the team behind the film has both a solid cast and a really good production staff on-board that will lead the film into success.

Now the writer of the film is working on a new project. Novelist and screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith has sold a pitch to 20th Century Fox for a John Hughes-inspired film called FROM MIA WITH LOVE.

The film follows three friends who order a mail order bride who, upon arrival, declines to have sex with them. Instead, she trains them in the art of getting girls, and all four of them find a place of common ground. The plot does give me a WIERD SCIENCE kind of vibe, and that is something that I can certainly get behind. They key will be some deep characterization and making the characters relatable – which was how John Hughes was so successful. Continue reading “Seth Grahame-Smith sells pitch for FROM MIA WITH LOVE”
