D.J. Caruso in talks for sci-fi INVERTIGO

There are some directors, despite the way some of their films have gone, that you can’t help but root for. For me, D.J. Caruso is one of those filmmakers. I was so caught off guard by DISTURBIA, the modern day re-imaginging of REAR WINDOW, and was compelled by its charm and great performances. His follow-up films, EAGLE EYE and I AM NUMBER FOUR, didn’t quite pack the same punch.

Now Caruso is in talks for a new sci-fi picture called INVERTIGO. Continue reading “D.J. Caruso in talks for sci-fi INVERTIGO”

Blu-ray Review: DUNE

Blu-ray Rating: 3/5

Since DUNE is an older film and everyone probably already has their mind made up about it, I will just be reviewing the Blu-ray set as a whole and not the film itself.

DUNE is a really fun film to talk about because people’s views on it are so incredibly polarizing. Despite this, a large cult following for David Lynch’s adaptation has grown in the past two decades since the film’s been released. Now the sci-fi classic is hitting on Blu-ray, and Kyle Maclachlan’s crazy haircut has never looked better. Continue reading “Blu-ray Review: DUNE”

Stephenie Meyer's THE HOST to film early 2011

After the TWILIGHT film series blew up, it was pretty much assumed that Stephenie Meyer’s other novel, The Host, would be adapted to film. This book is a science-fiction romance intended for adult audiences. People will soon be able to pass judgment on this film adaptation, because it is on its way to production quicker than most TWILIGHT fans are coming of age. Character concept art from GREEN LANTERN

In the past couple of years, GREEN LANTERN has become one of DC’s flagship series. What was once an old and tired idea and character has been revitalized thanks to the brilliant writing of Geoff Johns. As we all know, there is a GREEN LANTERN movie on its way that is being directed by Martin Campbell. Now we have somewhat of an idea what the film’s visual style will look like, as some concept art has come out of Kilowog and Tomar-Re.

You can check out the concept art after the jump! Continue reading “Character concept art from GREEN LANTERN”

Sci-fi novel "The Electric Church" to be adapted by Sony

I’m typically not a big fan of sci-fi movies, but this past year has changed my mind on that a little bit. So many good sci-fi movies were released in 2009, and it makes me wonder if my tastes have changed. Sony has a new sci-fi flick on the way, and hopefully this one will surprise me like the others did.

Sony is planning on making a feature adaptation of “The Electric Church,” a sci-fi novel by Jeff Somers. As of right now the film is called the AVERY CATES PROJECT, based off the name of the main character of the novel. The book is supposed to be very action-packed. New TRON LEGACY poster

I grew up watching TRON, constantly watching it throughout my childhood. When I got a little bit older, a computer game was released, titled “Tron 2.0.” I played the game religiously for a very long time. Needless to say, I’ve been a TRON fan for most of my life. When TRON LEGACY was announced, many people were very excited for it, especially since the original was released in 1982 and it has had no previous sequels. Unfortunately, it is still a ways away and they like teasing us about it.

You can check out the a new poster for TRON LEGACY after the jump! Continue reading “New TRON LEGACY poster”
