THE POLTERGEIST is a film that came just before my time, but in my circle of friends was built up like a legend. We talked about it in the same way that many people talk about THE EXORCIST. We all ended up watching it, and it certainly spooked us out.
Now the film is looking to do the same to a new generation of movie-goer. Last time Steven Spielberg was on as producer, this time we have Sam Raimi.

Abigail Spencer is moving her way up the actor food chain, and after having a stint on AMC’s hit show Mad Men, she seems to have projects lining up. Soon you’ll see her appear in the action-packed COWBOYS & ALIENS, and she also has a part in McG’s THIS MEANS WAR.
Now she is all set to join James Franco in Sam Raimi’s OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.
The film will follow Franco’s character as he finds his way to Oz by flight in a hot air balloon, where he must deal with three powerful witches. Spencer will play a woman who allows herself to be a part of Oz’s magic act while he is in Kansas. The part is likely to be small, but that stepping stone is a great early step for Spencer. Hot off the heels of discovering that my favorite childhood book series, Goosebumps, would be making its way towards the big screen we find out that we might be getting more R.L. Stine than first expected. News is now out that another one of his books, titled The Sitter, will also be getting the silver screen treatment.
The film version will be titled THE AU PAIR, and Sam Raimi seems to think that it will make a great film, as he is producing. Many people don’t realize that R.L. Stine has had a successful career outside of Goosebumps churning out a pretty large library of books. If THE AU PAIR proves to be successful, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if more adaptations of his work came to pass. Think Nicholas Sparks but creepier. THE SHADOW is a property that has been around for a very long time, starting with pulp novels and radio shows. Some of you might also remember a little 1994 film with Alec Baldwin. Well, there has been talk about a revitalization of the franchise at Sony with none other than Sam Raimi at the helm, but now we are hearing that that plan might have changed. Although reports are that SPIDER-MAN 4 is in production hell right now, we have to remember that it is still happening. Many fans (including myself) are worried about the product of the fourth Spidey flick, because of the awful 3rd film. It seems Sony is taking a note from the Marvel Studios playbook, and casting a renowned actor in one of the main roles.
John Malkovich confirmed that he will be The Vulture in SPIDER-MAN 4. Malkovich is reportedly waiting on a final script for the film, which currently is the subject of the film’s delay.
