GATW Podcast Ep. 42: Away We Crow

Remakes seem to make up a large portion of what Hollywood is giving us these days, ranging all the way from horror, dramas, and even comedies. That brings us to ARTHUR, the remake of the classic 1981 Dudley Moore classic. The remake stars film’s most lovable lothario, Russell Brand, so we figured the best thing to do was to talk about some of our favorite remakes. We also hit up some of the biggest news stories for the week.

Four new images for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET

Yesterday I wrote a post about the new poster for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET that I feel gave a little look into the attitude of the film. They didn’t want to stop there though – here’s four new images from the upcoming horror remake. For anyone who found the poster to be somewhat uninspired, maybe these photos will change your mind.

You can check out the four pictures in all their bloody glory after the jump! Continue reading “Four new images for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET”

ARTHUR remake wants Meryl Streep?

I grew up watching the unforgettable classic ARTHUR. The star Dudley Moore was so great in the role. Being that the original film is so important to me, many would figure that I would not want a remake to happen. That is not the case for ARTHUR though, and I was very excited when a remake with Russell Brand was announced. Russell Brand is perfect casting for the role, but it looks like the studio is aiming pretty high with the supporting roles. Continue reading “ARTHUR remake wants Meryl Streep?”

Meet the Beatles! YELLOW SUBMARINE has been cast

We’ve known about the YELLOW SUBMARINE remake for awhile now, but little else was known about the project. That is, until it was announced that Robert Zemeckis would be the director. With that news came word that he would be making it with 3D motion capture, in the vein of his last few films. Now the cast is in negotiations, and we know who they are!

You can see for yourself, after the jump! Continue reading “Meet the Beatles! YELLOW SUBMARINE has been cast”

Pierre Morel set to direct DUNE remake

A while back, we reported that the DUNE remake’s attached director Peter Berg would not be involved with the film. The big rumor was that Neill Blomkamp, director of the giant hit DISTRICT 9, would pick up the project. Now we know for sure who the director will be – Pierre Morel, who directed TAKEN. James Cameron is producing FANTASTIC VOYAGE 3-D

Fantastic Voyage

I know what you’re thinking, and no it isn’t a feature version of the Coolio song (oh, how I miss you, 1994). Although Hollywood’s remake fever is usually annoying, some projects reek of promise. As of now, that seems to be the case for this project.

James Cameron spoke with MTV about his next project he is developing at Fox, a remake of the 1966 classic, FANTASTIC VOYAGE. Cameron will not be directing this movie though, however, he will be the producer. The original was about a team of doctors who are shrunk and sent inside the president’s body after an assassination attempt. They run into many obstacles on their submarine journey to his brain to remove a blood clot, which will save his life.

Being that Cameron is producing the film, it has a very good chance at being awesome. I can’t wait to see this story with the special effects that we have today. After seeing how amazing AVATAR looks in 3-D, The 3-D for this film seems more promising. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this project in coming months.
