AMERICAN: THE BILL HICKS STORY is a fascinating documentary about a man misunderstood. Sure, he had his ups and downs, but by the end of his life many people had a certain idea about him that wasn’t exactly true. In the film, they clear the air a bit, and truly give him the kind of praise and attention that he deserves.

The film ran the film festival circuit, and now everyone else will be able to see it.On April 8, the film will open in New York City, and over the next month will expand into 25 more theaters. At the same time, they will be releasing the film through Video On Demand services through Gravitas Ventures so that it can reach the widest possible audience.
