X-MEN: FIRST CLASS sequel to start filming in January

All of us comic book fans were very anxious when X-MEN: FIRST CLASS was first announced. I mean, the third X-MEN film was quite a disappointment, and had spurned us in quite a way that we couldn’t help but be worried. Things got better every time the production teased us, but when it came to brass tacks, we needed to see the film. Luckily for us, it did not disappoint.

Being that the film ended up a success financially and critically, a sequel is being produced. The sequel in question, is now planning on starting in January. Continue reading “X-MEN: FIRST CLASS sequel to start filming in January”

January Jones takes over for Alice Eve in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is shaping up to be a pretty interesting superhero flick, with some very interesting casting choices. One of those previously-announced casting choices (that was already absolutely sublime) has actually gotten even better.

Alice Eve has now been replaced by January Jones for the role of Emma Frost. Cold has never been so hot. Continue reading “January Jones takes over for Alice Eve in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS”

Mark Millar to direct an independently financed superhero film

Comic book scribe Mark Millar has been in the public eye quite a bit in the past couple of years. Between the film adaptations of WANTED and the upcoming KICK-ASS (which has gotten a ridiculous amount of hype), he has become somewhat of a household name. Now it seems he wants to take a more direct (pun intended) connection to the general public.

Millar talked to IGN about an upcoming superhero film which he plans to direct. He claims that it is very different from the usual superhero film. Sadly, he doesn’t let out too much more about the film, but does admit that it will be filmed in Scotland this summer. He also says that he will probably take it on the festival circuit after Christmas. Continue reading “Mark Millar to direct an independently financed superhero film”

New KICK-ASS red band international trailer

The neverending onslaught of KICK-ASS media is still in full force, and this might just be the best thing we’ve gotten. Although the original red-band trailer was extremely awesome, this one lets us in on the story a little bit more. I have to admit, the story was never really what had me sold on this film – until now, that is.

It seems that they are putting a lot of characterization into the film while obviously not letting the humor go sour. It is also extremely odd, yet always funny, hearing Hit-Girl say some of the extremely profane things that come out of her mouth.

You can check out the definitely NSFW trailer after the jump! Continue reading “New KICK-ASS red band international trailer”

Does Matthew Vaughn want to adapt Gaiman's SANDMAN?

“Sandman” is one of the most revered and highly praised comics of all time, very much like “Watchmen.” Fans have argued for ages if “Sandman” should be adapted to film or not. Much like “Watchmen” (which was ulimately turned into a feature last year), some argue that it is an unfilmable movie. But would it change fans’ minds if Matthew Vaughn, director of KICK-ASS, was at the helm?

Check out what he had to say after the jump! Continue reading “Does Matthew Vaughn want to adapt Gaiman's SANDMAN?”

Another new KICK-ASS trailer

I haven’t heard anybody speak ill of KICK-ASS, probably because it looks so good. Not only that, but it’s getting some serious buzz. As we reported the other day, KICK-ASS will be the SXSW festival opener. Now, they are trying to tease us even further, by putting out this new trailer.

Hit-Girl character poster is KICK-ASS

HIT GIRL CUT

KICK-ASS was recently shown at Harry Knowles’ (of Ain’t It Cool News fame) Butt-Numb-A-Thon 24 hour movie marathon in Austin, and was received very strongly by the crowd. I know first-hand that this movie is one of the biggest topics at comic shops right now. Needless to say, this film is getting some buzz. Although the movie had some trouble finding distributors, it is now on the fast track to being one of the best and biggest films of 2010.

Lionsgate has been flooding us with awesome KICK-ASS stuff lately to pump us up. First we got the teaser trailer, followed by awesome character posters of Kick-Ass, Red Mist, Big Daddy, and now Hit-Girl. I just have to say, all the characters look really great. I am so excited for this movie to come out.
