GATW Podcast Ep. 55: Super Serumed

After talking about it endlessly, and praying to the gods of Asgard for the CAPTAIN AMERICA movie to come out, it has finally hit the big screen. This may not be Marvel’s first attempt at bringing THE FIRST AVENGER to the big screen, but this is easily the quintessential version. We’ve all seen it, and we were very happy to dig right in.

We also dig into the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN trailer, and Captain Planet even showed up for a bit.

Surprise cameo confirmed for THOR

THOR is just around the corner and excitement is at an all-time high for the project. Everyone is curious to see what the film will end up being like, and how it will tie itself into the upcoming AVENGERS movie. We had heard that we might have an Avenger show up in the film, but nothing had been confirmed. Until now.

Jeremy Renner’s portrayal as Hawkeye will apparently first happen in THOR, in what is assumed to be an extended cameo. At CinemaCon, Paramount showed off footage from the upcoming film and one scene involved Hawkeye working with Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson. Renner had several lines in the scene and even used his bow and arrow. No word yet if his part extends past this scene, though. Continue reading “Surprise cameo confirmed for THOR”

Marvel hires a writer to pen BLACK PANTHER

We’ve known for a while that Marvel was seizing the opportunity that Disney gave them, with a big interest in bringing many of their lesser-known heroes to the forefront of their universe. Yet, very few of those heroes have been brought to the big screen. Now it looks like they are very serious about turning Black Panther, one of the heroes a bit more well-known to the comic community yet mostly unknown to the general public, into one of those properties.

Marvel has officially brought on Mark Bailey to pen the adaptation of the comic; Bailey is most well-known for his work in documentaries such as PANDEMIC: FACING AIDS. It is a little peculiar that Marvel chose someone who hasn’t really proven themselves as a screenwriter for a film like BLACK PANTHER. Continue reading “Marvel hires a writer to pen BLACK PANTHER”

The common consensus is that it is most likely Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, hit the break to see why! Continue reading “Guess which AVENGER is rumored to cameo in THOR?”

Marvel's Jessica Jones headed to the small screen

Marvel characters like Jessica Jones are exactly the reason for my undying love of anything and everything Marvel. Some of you might be unfamiliar with who Jessica Jones is, as she isn’t one of the most well-known characters from the Marvel universe. She was created by Marvel’s go-to writer Brian Michael Bendis in his 2001 series Alias, and she was later worked into the more mainstream Marvel canon. So much so, that she actually had a high school crush on Peter Parker, and ended up marrying Luke Cage.

Marvel seems to love her character as much as I do, as they are adapting her for a television series. Continue reading “Marvel's Jessica Jones headed to the small screen”

Holy Mjolnir, new THOR poster!

Hey there Marvelites! While the ultimate fate of the THOR film is still to be determined, Marvel is doing a pretty fantastic job hyping the film up. The only thing missing from the whole equation was a theatrical poster (and an official trailer, which will hit sometime this afternoon), which we now have. This poster absolutely proves that sometimes simpler is better.

Hit the break to check out the full poster in all of its God of Thunder goodness. Continue reading “Holy Mjolnir, new THOR poster!”

Denis Leary joins SPIDER-MAN cast

The floodgates of information on the new SPIDER-MAN film have officially opened the past couple of weeks, and every day it seems new information is beginning to come out about the film. Now we are starting to get information about some of the background characters in the film. One of those roles, that of Police Captain George Stacy, father to Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), will be portrayed by sometimes funny-man Denis Leary.

Leary is one of those actors who can completely encapsulate a role to a fault. He can convincingly take up a comedic role or a dramatic role and pull you in completely. He’s proven that time and time again, between his past comedic works, and his impressive work on Rescue Me. Continue reading “Denis Leary joins SPIDER-MAN cast”

According to Hugh Jackman, Aronofsky is directing WOLVERINE 2

This is the post that all of you have probably been waiting for, a more definite word either way on if the unmatchable Darren Aronofsky would indeed be directing the WOLVERINE sequel. Although this isn’t a press release or anything of the sort, it does come directly from the mouth of Wolvie himself, definitely confirming Aronofsky’s involvement with the film.

Hit the break to see what Hugh Jackman had to say! Continue reading “According to Hugh Jackman, Aronofsky is directing WOLVERINE 2”

Mark Ruffalo to do mo-cap for The Hulk

Although news of Mark Ruffalo playing The Hulk in the upcoming superhero team-up THE AVENGERS was at first a little disheartening, he is quickly earning our hearts and trust with the role. Every news bit that comes out about the film makes it seem as though they’re on the right track, and this news certainly follows that trend.

The Hulk might be a little more Ruffalo than you expected, as he will be doing motion capture for the character. Continue reading “Mark Ruffalo to do mo-cap for The Hulk”
