HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" gets a premiere date

It really isn’t TV, it’s HBO. It’s something so much more than your standard television fare and, along with Showtime and AMC, HBO is changing the way people think of cable shows. HBO’s next big show Boardwalk Empire, which was co-created by Martin Scorsese,  finally has a premiere date.

The show will premiere on September 19 at 9 PM, most likely to very high viewership (all their shows always premiere well). HBO has been running the trailer almost non-stop lately, and gives off a vibe that screams “prohibition era version of The Sopranos.” If that formula doesn’t scream ridiculous success, then Scorsese’s involvement certainly does. Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro to reteam for THE IRISHMAN?

It’s been fifteen years since CASINO was released, and we haven’t had a team-up of Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro since then. Although there have been several almosts, including Scorsese’s THE DEPARTED where Jack Nicholson’s role was originally intended for De Niro, it just hasn’t happened. SHUTTER ISLAND cut

SHUTTER ISLAND, you had me at Scorsese. We have had so many different things come out in promotion for SHUTTER ISLAND. Of course, this movie is getting a lot of buzz for not only being a new Scorsese film, but also being another Scorsese film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. They previously did GANGS OF NEW YORK, THE AVIATOR, and THE DEPARTED together.
