"The Transporter" television series gets its driver

Although his name isn’t quite what it used to be, Luc Besson still has an important spot in my heart for the often auteur-like style he brings to action movies. One of his creations that has the most bearing in today’s film climate is certainly THE TRANSPORTER series. Although many people have a love-hate relationship with the series, especially with the second film, it is popular enough to where it is receiving its own television series.

Now we officially have a Jason Statham replacement for the series, and the man to do it is Chris Vance. Vance was recently in the past season of Showtime’s Dexter, where he played the best friend and body guard to Dexter’s main antagonist. In that show, he got to play the tough guy role, something that is sure to help him out in The Transporter. My biggest question is if he will keep his head of hair for the show, but only time will tell that much. Continue reading “"The Transporter" television series gets its driver”

Maggie Grace visits space in Luc Besson film, LOCKOUT

It’s no secret that Luc Besson is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time in my a-little-jealous-of-his-talent eyes, and I would watch just about anything that he is involved with. He constantly picks up new projects to work on, and he also co-writes just about every Statham movie in existence.

Now he plans on sending the gorgeous Maggie Grace into space in his newest brainchild, LOCKOUT. Continue reading “Maggie Grace visits space in Luc Besson film, LOCKOUT”

Theatrical Review: FROM PARIS WITH LOVE

Rating: 8/10

Writers: Adi Hasak (screenplay), Luc Besson (story)
Director: Pierre Morel
Cast: John Travolta, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Kasia Smutniak
Studio: Lionsgate

Luc Besson is probably one of my favorite filmmakers of all time. I will usually watch anything that he is involved with, because it is usually very good (TRANSPORTER 2 aside). He really won my attention with last year’s TAKEN, not to mention he brought my attention to the film’s director Pierre Morel. When their next project together, FROM PARIS WITH LOVE was announced, I automatically knew I’d like it. That was before I saw the very cheesy trailer that made me lose all hope in the film. TAKEN scribe sells VENGEANCE

Robert Mark Kamen

Every now and then, an action film comes out and surprises audiences with its quality. More often than not, action movies are fun to watch but are lacking a genuinely good plot. That was certainly not the case for TAKEN, which came out last year. In fact, I haven’t talked to a single person that didn’t agree that TAKEN kicked ass, and apparently CBS Films agrees.

Robert Mark Kamen, who co-wrote TAKEN with Luc Besson, sold CBS Films on a pitch for a “contemporary revenge love story,” titled VENGEANCE. He goes on to compare the film to THE GODFATHER and states, “It’s about family loyalty and how much someone owes their family and the past. It’s not set in the gangster milieu but just outside it.” Continue reading “TAKEN scribe sells VENGEANCE”
