LEATHERFACE 3D gets a director

2003’s THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake was one of the films that jumpstarted the modern trend of horror remakes. It ended up being an insanely scary movie, and even led to a 2006 prequel. The idea of a third film to join the new era of Leatherface has been around since 2009, with 3D being one of its major selling points. Then the film seemingly disappeared, until now.

Director John Luessenhop is now in talks to join the project. The helmer most recently directed TAKERS. Continue reading “LEATHERFACE 3D gets a director”

Miley Cyrus led LOL to be distributed by Lionsgate

I love Miley Cyrus as much as the next guy, and it’s quite obvious that she is the future of Hollywood. Although I understand all the Miley hate for just being who she is, it’s hard to deny that she actually has some acting skill.

Apparently Lionsgate agrees, and will be distributing her upcoming film LOL. Continue reading “Miley Cyrus led LOL to be distributed by Lionsgate”

Theatrical Review: FROM PARIS WITH LOVE

Rating: 8/10

Writers: Adi Hasak (screenplay), Luc Besson (story)
Director: Pierre Morel
Cast: John Travolta, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Kasia Smutniak
Studio: Lionsgate

Luc Besson is probably one of my favorite filmmakers of all time. I will usually watch anything that he is involved with, because it is usually very good (TRANSPORTER 2 aside). He really won my attention with last year’s TAKEN, not to mention he brought my attention to the film’s director Pierre Morel. When their next project together, FROM PARIS WITH LOVE was announced, I automatically knew I’d like it. That was before I saw the very cheesy trailer that made me lose all hope in the film. Empire's fold-out cover is KICK-ASS

I know, I should be tired of the endless onslaught of KICK-ASS posters, trailers, pictures, and other marketing promotions they have done. But the movie looks so incredibly kick-ass that every single thing that is released gets me doubly stoked. Now Empire wants their shot at the KICK-ASS hype train, and they deliver big (daddy) time.

Empire has released pictures of their upcoming March issue that will include a fold-out cover featuring some of the main heroes. The cover features Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl, and Big Daddy on an extremely stylized cover. I usually wouldn’t pick up a magazine for this sort of thing, but it looks really awesome. This film is easily one of this year’s films that I am most excited to see.

You can check out the all the pictures of the cover after the jump! Continue reading “Empire's fold-out cover is KICK-ASS”

Lionsgate will distribute Sundance 2010's BURIED

BURIED just premiered at Sundance the other day to rave reviews (in fact, you can see ours HERE). I don’t know too much about the film since I haven’t seen it yet, but I think it is better that way. I’d much rather be surprised when I do.

Luckily, Lionsgate has picked the film up for distribution, so it will be heading our way in no time. Continue reading “Lionsgate will distribute Sundance 2010's BURIED”

Lionsgate will probably get TERMINATOR rights

After Joss Whedon put out his letter about why the TERMINATOR franchise should be sold to him, fans’ imaginations went wild. Not to mention the excitement about the people who brought you TERMINATOR: SALVATION losing their rights. That was about the last time we spoke about who was in the running for the rights. Now we know who will most likely win. Continue reading “Lionsgate will probably get TERMINATOR rights”

DVD Review: FACING ALI

Facing Ali

Film rating: 7/10
DVD rating: 3/10

Director: Pete McCormack
Studio: Lionsgate

FACING ALI is a documentary that doesn’t take the usual approach to telling Muhammad Ali’s story. In fact, very little of the film is actually about his personal life. This film focuses mainly on his most historic fights, and the boxers who faced him. It features some of the biggest names in boxing at the time, such as George Chuvalo, Joe Fraizer, and George Foreman (yes, the grill guy). Continue reading “DVD Review: FACING ALI”

SEASON OF THE WITCH gets a new poster

SEASON OF THE WITCH cut

Lionsgate is gearing up for the March 19 release of SEASON OF THE WITCH by putting out a new poster. So far, we’ve a seen a teaser and a trailer, just enough to pique interest in the horror film. The film was directed by Dominic Sena, who also directed GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS, SWORDFISH (so awesome!), and WHITEOUT which came out earlier this year. Unfortunately for Sena, WHITEOUT went through critical hell and was almost universally disliked. Maybe he can redeem himself with this one.

Check out the rest of the poster after the jump! Continue reading “SEASON OF THE WITCH gets a new poster”
