"24" film is still on its way; script still in the works

A 24 feature film has been in the works for a while now, with nothing real coming out of constant production rumors as of yet. The hit show starring king of all-around bad-assery, Jack Bauer, came to its end after its eighth season last summer. Needless to say, the 24 movie is a slow-gestating project that fans can’t help but be riled up over.

Today’s update on the project comes from a Fox TV executive who has his pulse on the status of production. Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice had this to say about the project:

“I don’t work at the movie company, but my intelligence around the lot is everybody would very much like to make a 24 movie ,and I believe that they’re working on the script. When they say ‘We don’t have a script,’ they don’t have a completed script that they’re about to go shoot. There’s a great desire to see Jack Bauer on the big screen.” Continue reading “"24" film is still on its way; script still in the works”

"24" film script rejected

Sorry, all you 24 fans out there, the film version of your beloved series might take a little bit longer than you were expecting to hit the big screen. The project, which seemed to be on the fast track after the show’s cancellation, seems to have hit a standstill.

Back in March we got word from Jack Bauer himself, Kiefer Sutherland, that the script to the film had been completed. That’s why it came as a shock when word got out today that the first version of the script has been rejected.

This news come from Assignment X, who convinced 24 executive producer, Howard Gordon, to reveal a little bit about the upcoming film. He then revealed that they felt Billy Ray’s script wasn’t up to snuff. He also revealed that though he is not involved with the project currently, director Tony Scott has a couple ideas for the film. Time for a 24 movie update

24 may be over as far as the TV series goes, but it’s no secret that the hit show will probably be transitioning to the big screen. Although there was a lot of initial speculation and talk when it was first announced that the show was ending, it has pretty much bottomed off since then. Now we are starting to hear rumblings about it again, which means Jack Bauer must have an itchy trigger finger.

Howard Gordon, an executive producer on 24 says that they already have a script ready to go. Gordon says:

“There is a draft that is in. No one is in a position right now to know when or what the movie will be, exactly.  Now that the TV show is over, the movie will be it’s own thing.” Continue reading “Time for a 24 movie update”

24 the movie has acquired a screenwriter
