Kevin Smith wants to take "Clerks 3" to Broadway

CLERKS was a big part of what really got me into film. Yeah, I know. It’s totally a cliche choice to pick for that, but it is still true. I remember watching the movie whenever I was far too young, repeatedly, and as I got older my appreciation only grew more. Then CLERKS 2 came out, and it gave us a better look at what these characters were like ten years later, trying to figure out their thirties.

Kevin Smith's RED STATE finds a green light, will shoot before HIT SOMEBODY

Kevin Smith has been talking (and tweeting) about RED STATE for a very long time. The project has gone through development hell because of it’s dark and bleak nature. The pitch was originally turned down by the Weinsteins and at one point there was talk about making a fan funded film. Thanks to some tweets by Smith, we know that a studio is giving him some trust and RED STATE has been green lit.

Kevin Smith pitching HIT SOMEBODY to studios

Kevin Smith is one of my favorite writers in film today. Even in his most mentally void films, there is still a level of witty and clever humor. He really hit his stride with ZACK & MIRI MAKE A PORNO, which he is following up with COP OUT (which Smith has not written and is only directing). Unfortunately, COP OUT doesn’t look as good as we may have been hoping, but Smith is now trying to get the ball rolling on HIT SOMEBODY and get a studio attached. Kevin Smith's HIT SOMEBODY to film this year?

I don’t know a single person that enjoyed the trailer to COP OUT, everyone agrees that it doesn’t look funny. Many people believe it is because Kevin Smith did not write it, as it is his first feature that he is only directing. I’ve been going to the Quickstop Entertainment website in some form or fashion for a very long time. I started back in 2001 when movie site Poop Shoot.com, which was based off of the online movie news site Kevin Smith created for JAY & SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, was launched. The site got my attention again when it transformed into Quickstop Entertainment, which was the home of Smith’s podcast “Smodcast,” was released. A COUPLE OF DICKS changed to COP OUT?

A COUPLE OF DICKS

There has been some buzz in the past week about the title of Kevin Smith’s newest film. Originally, the film was titled A COUPLE OF DICKS, then it was changed to A COUPLE OF COPS, and after much fan outcry it was once again changed back to A COUPLE OF DICKS. After TV stations refused to run ads that say “DICKS” until after 9 PM, Smith knew it had to be changed. But, it looks like the new title might have been figured out!
