Michael Chabon on board to write Disney's MAGIC KINGDOM

Michael Chabon

Disney’s MAGIC KINGDOM is quickly coming together, and all the puzzle pieces are seemingly falling into place. We found out not too long ago that Jon Favreau was brought on board as the director, but the writer of the film has been a mystery up until this point.

Several months ago, there was word that Michael Chabon could be brought on as the scribe. That word ended up being a reality, as Disney has officially hired him for the job.

Very little is known about the plot for MAGIC KINGDOM, other than that it will take place at Disney’s flagship theme park. Favreau and Chabon have reportedly spent time at the Anaheim theme park, most likely conceptualizing with the film. This won’t be Chabon’s first time working for Disney either, as he helped out on the Snow White project THE ORDER OF THE SEVEN and the upcoming sci-fi film JOHN CARTER. Louis Leterrier on a shortlist to direct THE AVENGERS?

There’s really no telling how close we are to an announcement on who will be directing THE AVENGERS. Cries by fanboys everywhere (myself included) were pleading for Jon Favreau to take the job, but he announced he will only be executive producer. After that, talk of directors dispelled mostly, until now. While speaking to Ain’t It Cool, THE INCREDIBLE HULK director Louis Leterrier said he might be on board.

You can check out what he had to say after the jump! Continue reading “Louis Leterrier on a shortlist to direct THE AVENGERS?”

Robert Downey Jr. thinks ALIENS are out and HOLMES 2 is in

Everybody loves Robert Downey Jr., and it is easy to understand why. He is a phenomenal actor, he is very funny, and he picks roles extremely well. Now that his schedule is so busy, it’s a lot harder for him to do every project he wants. This is a classic case of that, but it’s probably for the best.

Robert Downey Jr. was set to start filming for Jon Favreau’s next movie, COWBOYS & ALIENS, this summer. Downey has now pulled out of that project, as he will be starring in SHERLOCK HOLMES 2, which should start filming in June. No word yet who will replace Downey in COWBOYS. Three new IRON MAN 2 photos!

NEofzptqG1CGru_1_3

IRON MAN 2 is fast approaching, and at this point Marvel will do anything to get our attention (you’ve always had my attention, Marvel!) to remind us how awesome this movie is going to be. At this point is just a waiting game till we get a trailer.

Today is the first day since Monday that we haven’t received a viral ad, but Marvel did put out these three production stills. These pictures are nothing groundbreaking, but it seems that they are trying to reassure the fanbase that the film will still be heavily character focused and not just explosions. This is the right move, because it is definitely working. The charm of the first film is really what sold it for me. They captured Tony Stark perfectly, it made the inner Marvel fan-boy in me squeal (no comment if I actually squealed).

You can check out the other two pictures after the jump! Continue reading “Three new IRON MAN 2 photos!”

New IRON MAN 2 viral is in print

IRON MAN 2 cut

A lot of details are starting to come out about IRON MAN 2 in preparation for the film’s May 7th release date. The marketing team has been releasing a lot of posters lately; first they released one revealing War Machine, and then they released one focused on Whiplash. Now, it looks like the viral campaign for the film is in full force. It looks to me like they are trying to capitalize on Whiplash’s obsession with Stark, because the clipping above looks a lot like the backdrop of the Whiplash poster.
