Luc Besson is probably one of my favorite filmmakers of all time. I will usually watch anything that he is involved with, because it is usually very good (TRANSPORTER 2 aside). He really won my attention with last year’s TAKEN, not to mention he brought my attention to the film’s director Pierre Morel. WILD HOGS 2: BACHELOR RIDE crashes and burns

WILD HOGS

Mickey Mouse must be pissed about something, first he canceled 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, then he canned WEDDING BANNED. Now, it looks like the completely unnecessary WILD HOGS 2: BACHELOR RIDE has put its leather garb away, and hopefully for good.

The original was the story of four old idiots who went on a stupid motorcycle trip to make Tim Allen’s character feel better about his stupid divorce (sorry, I’m bitter). The sequel, which was in the scripting stage, was hiring new writers to revise the script. Discussions were also ongoing to bring back the four principal actors (John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence, and William H. Macy), but were stopped after the cancellation.

I can’t explain how much I hated the original (you could probably tell), and wouldn’t even considering paying to see a second one. However, I am surprised this movie was canceled. The first one was a giant success, and I did talk to a lot of people who liked it. We’ll see if they try to revive the series later, but for now, sayonara.
