Having a role in a Steven Soderbergh movie can really do wonders for your career, and perfect proof of this is Sasha Grey. Grey started off her career as an adult film star (award-winning, as a matter of fact), but then showed up in Soderbergh’s indie, THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE. Since then, it hasn’t been too hard for her to find work in the more mainstream film market, and she may next be showing up in I MELT WITH YOU. Bluray Rating: 8/10
Since this is an older film and most people probably already have their opinions on it, I will not be reviewing the actual film itself and instead review the Blu-ray set as a whole.
I went crazy for SMOKIN’ ACES when it first came out. I thought it was fun, insanely clever, and really bad-ass. The avant-garde visual style that they used was incredible and put Joe Carnahan on my directors to watch list. I liked it so much, in fact, that I bought the HD-DVD version (R.I.P.) when it came out. At the time of the initial home video release, Universal was backing HD-DVD exclusively, so it wasn’t until now that we get a Blu-ray version. Continue reading “Blu-ray Review: SMOKIN' ACES”
A teaser for the upcoming MARMADUKE live action film has hit the web, just to give us a taste of what the film will be like. The story takes place when Marmaduke (voiced by Owen Wilson) and his family move from Kansas to Orange County. The film is supposed to be a teen drama about dogs.
The trailer is an obvious Sspoof of the Fox TV series “The O.C.” which could turn many people away, but actually is what hooked me. I hope this doesn’t ruin my cred, but I love “The O.C.”. If MARMADUKE has captured a similar feel to the show, I think it could end up being a really great movie.
