Abigail Spencer joins OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

Abigail Spencer is moving her way up the actor food chain, and after having a stint on AMC’s hit show Mad Men, she seems to have projects lining up. Soon you’ll see her appear in the action-packed COWBOYS & ALIENS, and she also has a part in McG’s THIS MEANS WAR.

Now she is all set to join James Franco in Sam Raimi’s OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.

The film will follow Franco’s character as he finds his way to Oz by flight in a hot air balloon, where he must deal with three powerful witches. Spencer will play a woman who allows herself to be a part of Oz’s magic act while he is in Kansas. The part is likely to be small, but that stepping stone is a great early step for Spencer. James Franco joins OZ, THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

James Franco seems to have blown up in the past year or so, even when he’s spending a lot of time doing things you wouldn’t expect him to, like General Hospital. Regardless, he is a hard-working guy and is constantly attached to so many projects at a single time. It doesn’t seem like they are stopping any time soon.

Andy Serkis joins RISE OF THE APES

Andy Serkis is a pretty interesting actor, as he is most well known for playing some of the most iconic CGI characters of the past decade. Although my favorite performance of his might be as KING KONG, most are more familiar with his performance as Gollum in LORD OF THE RINGS. He may not have looked like himself on screen, but he provided the movements and the voice. Now he’s looking to do another CGI role, but as a much smaller monkey in RISE OF THE APES. James Franco will act in RICKY STINICKY

James Franco has been taking his career in a pretty interesting direction lately, not quite Joaquin Phoenix interesting, but pretty damn interesting. Aside from having a stint on the soap opera General Hospital as what my mom described as “a creepy murderer dude,” and his indie documentary SATURDAY NIGHT (a behind the scenes look at SNL), but he hasn’t had any big roles in a while. Could Danny Boyle want Katie Featherston of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY for 127 HOURS?

I’m not surprised at all that the amazing Katie Featherston would make it big time after PARANORMAL ACTIVITY came out. She gave one of the most real performances I’ve seen in a very long time. Apparently Danny Boyle liked her too, as she auditioned for a part in 127 HOURS and read a scene with him.

We reported earlier that Danny Boyle was making a film called 127 HOURS starring James Franco as Aron Ralston. Ralston is a mountain climber who was pinned underneath a boulder for five days, and amputated his arm to survive. The film is supposed to be very realistic, and will even feature an hour without dialogue. Featherston would fit right into the realistic tone, as she has proven her ability in that arena before. James Franco to star in Danny Boyle's 127 HOURS

Since SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE came out, people have been going crazy over what Danny Boyle’s next project might be. Awhile back, it was confirmed to be 127 HOURS, the true story of mountaineer Aron Rolston, who amputated his own arm to free himself from a boulder that landed on him.
