Guillermo del Toro is one of those filmmakers who us cinephiles can’t help but follow in droves. His desire to push the boundaries of filmmaking is nothing but awe-inspiring. It was that special something that Peter Jackson recognized, leading to del Toro’s involvement in THE HOBBIT, before he moved on to greener pastures.

A while back, we found out that del Toro was going to be taking on PACIFIC RIM instead of his long-time passion project, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS. But that doesn’t mean he has given up on the project just yet.

For those who don’t know, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS is based off a classic H.P. Lovecraft story. Del Toro is a serious Lovecraft fan, which is one of the things that made him such a great match for the HELLBOY franchise, which is also inspired by Lovecraft’s work.
