Guillermo del Toro still dedicated to AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS

Guillermo del Toro is one of those filmmakers who us cinephiles can’t help but follow in droves. His desire to push the boundaries of filmmaking is nothing but awe-inspiring. It was that special something that Peter Jackson recognized, leading to del Toro’s involvement in THE HOBBIT, before he moved on to greener pastures.

A while back, we found out that del Toro was going to be taking on PACIFIC RIM instead of his long-time passion project, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS. But that doesn’t mean he has given up on the project just yet.

For those who don’t know, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS is based off a classic H.P. Lovecraft story. Del Toro is a serious Lovecraft fan, which is one of the things that made him such a great match for the HELLBOY franchise, which is also inspired by Lovecraft’s work. Guillermo del Toro to jump in the video game business

Not a lot of people know this, but before film took over every facet of my being, video games were my thing. As much as I still love gaming, it can be hard to find the time to play something. So now, a game  has to be really cinematic and quite good to convince me to put my life on hold till I beat it.

MGM and WB really want Peter Jackson to direct THE HOBBIT films

THE HOBBIT seems like a crazy mess right now, with rumors flying everywhere about who might take up the director’s chair now that Guillermo del Toro is no longer on the project. Just yesterday we reported that the studios behind the films, WB and MGM, were courting HARRY POTTER director David Yates to take up the mantle. This is still true according to today’s reports, but it appears he is second in the running, only behind Peter Jackson.
