THE DARK KNIGHT RISES gets a PG-13 Rating

Summer is almost here, which means that all of us film fanatics are probably going to be spending all of our time and money at the movie theater. We don’t mind though, as oftentimes it is the best part of the year. As an ultra-geek myself, I get most excited for all the superhero stuff to come out.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, easily one of the most anticipated movies of the year will be out shortly, and now it has an MPAA rating officially. It will be PG-13. Continue reading “THE DARK KNIGHT RISES gets a PG-13 Rating”

The CW's "Arrow" has a pretty cool look

Full disclosure: I was a huge Smallville fan, owning all the seasons on DVD, and anxiously anticipating new episodes every week. That lasted until midway through season 8, where college and life got the best of me and I had to give up. I always planned on going back, and lately have been working on it. The show has since ended, but CW doesn’t want to give up on the DC train just yet.

Now they have a new show coming out about The Green Arrow, who was a very prominent figure throughout the course of Smallville’s latter half. The show is titled Arrow, and now we also have an image (above) of what the hero will look like. Continue reading “The CW's "Arrow" has a pretty cool look”

Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" to get the animation treatment

These days, Batman is one of the most popular superheroes out there. After having a major revival with Christopher Nolan’s BATMAN BEGINS, he quickly rose back to the public eye. After Nolan’s epic sequel, THE DARK KNIGHT, Batman’s popularity was unparalleled. With THE DARK KNIGHT RISES on its way, what other ways can they keep us interested?

DC is planning on releasing an animated feature following the story of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. The Dark Knight Returns follows a middle-aged Bruce Wayne returning to the cape and cowl after accepting retirement to fight some of his biggest enemies. The comic was released back in 1986, and to this day is still considered one of the best Batman stories ever to be told. DC seems to be pulling the big guns on this one, and this has the ability to become one of the best DC animated features. CW wants to bring DC's Raven to the small screen

This isn’t something that I readily admit, but there was a time in my life where I was pretty obsessed with Smallville. The show has since lost its fun and cheesiness, but the happy memories still remain. With the show coming to its end, it’s no surprise that the CW wants to replace Supes with another one of their many heroes.

It seems that now they might have made their choice. Continue reading “CW wants to bring DC's Raven to the small screen”

Bradley Cooper to play THE FLASH?

Almost everyone has been on the “Ryan Reynolds should play The Flash” bandwagon, it seems, but with his commitment to THE GREEN LANTERN and possible commitment to DEADPOOL, it’s very unlikely he will take up the role of yet another superhero.

So who else would be up for the role of our favorite speedster? Well, Bradley Cooper would, of course. Continue reading “Bradley Cooper to play THE FLASH?”

GREEN LANTERN 2 already has a screenwriter

Green Lantern

The Warner Bros. GREEN LANTERN film is fast approaching, and the studio seems to be building it up to be one of their biggest superhero franchises and a tentpole summer blockbuster. Needless to say, the buzz over the Ryan Reynolds-starring film hasn’t been too bad either. There’s almost no doubt that the film will be huge, and Warner has recognized that.

To prove their faith, they have already hired a writer to write a sequel. Continue reading “GREEN LANTERN 2 already has a screenwriter”

Samuel Bayer wants to direct THE BOYS by Garth Ennis

Garth Ennis is a comic writer that has consistently showed his insane level of creativity. He has had very successful runs on such comics as “Hellblazer”, “Judge Dredd”, and “Punisher war journal”. Not to mention that he has been nominated for the Eisner Award (Comparable to the Best Director Oscar) five times, one of which turned into a win. Now it looks like one of his films might be adapted into a film by the director of the A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake director Samuel Bayer. Is THE FLASH speeding to theaters with a director?

It seems like DC comics is taking a note from the Marvel playbook by making films of their most famous properties. With news like David Goyer, co-writer of THE DARK KNIGHT, penning Superman’s next film, many are assuming they are trying to work towards a Justice League film. This news only feeds that fire, as The Flash might be the next hero to get the big-screen treatment. Continue reading “Is THE FLASH speeding to theaters with a director?”
