DALLAS IFF 2010 Video Interview: Actors Lou Taylor Pucci, Trevor Morgan, Jon Foster (BROTHERHOOD)

Lou Taylor Pucci, Trevor Morgan and Jon Foster

BROTHERHOOD is a film that swept not only my heart (as I pronounced in our SXSW Podcast), but also swept the Audience Award for a Narrative film at both SXSW and Dallas IFF. In the film, fraternity brothers must work together to get through one of the hardest and most trying events they’ve ever dealt with– a shot friend. But can they keep the brotherly love while trying to escape the consequences of their actions?

One of the biggest factors for BROTHERHOOD is its cast, who really take the film to the next level by providing astounding performances. Their chemistry in the film is only overshadowed by their real life chemistry, which was very apparent while I interviewed the three main stars Lou Taylor Pucci, Trevor Morgan and Jon Foster. As it turns out that all three of them happen to have been very close friends before shooting began. You can check out their chemistry yourself, after the break. DALLAS IFF 2010 Video Interview: Co-Writer/Director Will Canon and Co-Writer Doug Simon (BROTHERHOOD)

Brotherhood Interview One

BROTHERHOOD is the first feature by co-writer/director Will Canon and co-writer Doug Simon. It’s the story of some fraternity brothers who, after an unfortunate accident during their final initiation, end up dealing with a shot brother. Instead of reporting it, taking the heat, and possibly losing their charter, they try to hide it at all costs. Who wants to get in trouble, right?

As I discussed in the SXSW episode of our Podcast, BROTHERHOOD was my favorite film out of the festival. Many SXSWers agreed, as the film won the Audience Award (Narrative). The film also screened at Dallas International Film Festival and won the Audience Award (Narrative) there, so we thought that would be the perfect opportunity to talk to the gents about the film. Check the interview after the break. Continue reading “DALLAS IFF 2010 Video Interview: Co-Writer/Director Will Canon and Co-Writer Doug Simon (BROTHERHOOD)”

GATW Podcast Episode 3: SXSW Recap

GATW SXSW Logo

The boys and girls are back from the SXSW film festival in Austin! Flights got delayed, long ass car rides happened (flat tires included), and getting back into the swing of things hasn’t been easy. But maybe they can hold onto the memories, and throw down on what their experiences were like at the festival.

In this week’s episode, John and Will discuss what the SXSW Film Festival was like and all the fun to be had in Austin. Followed by their top five films of the festival and some of their honorable mentions. They wrap it up with some sweet moments as they discuss what it was like to meet face to face.

You can check out the episode rundown and give it a listen, after the jump. Continue reading “GATW Podcast Episode 3: SXSW Recap”

SXSW 2010 Review: BROTHERHOOD

Rating: 9/10

Writer: Will Canon, Douglas Simon
Director: Will Canon
Cast: Trevor Morgan, Jon Foster, Lou Taylor Pucci, Arlen Escarpeta

To many, fraternities are a big part of the college experience, as they help someone branch out and meet people and find brothers for life. They can really open up someone’s world, and help them discover themselves. Or as the film BROTHERHOOD suggests, get you in a shitload of trouble that could easily put you in prison for a long time.

BROTHERHOOD is the story of Adam Buckley (Trevor Morgan) a college freshman who is rushing for the Sigma Zeta Chi fraternity. But when his final initiation of robbing a convenience store goes horribly wrong, he and his “brothers” find themselves dealing with a shot pledge.

Of course, taking their wounded friend to the hospital or calling the police is out of the question because then they would get in trouble. So an extensive cover-up plan is created by Frank (Jon Foster) a stubborn brother who isn’t ready to go down easily. Unfortunately, every one of their actions gets a reaction and a string of bad occurrences go down and Adam is stuck in the middle of it. What will he do?
