Mia Maestro joins Oliver Stone's SAVAGES

Mia Maestro is about to make a splash in the upcoming film of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN as the character Carmen, one of the many vampires we are sure to see in the film. She isn’t looking to go anywhere after the film comes out, though, and is already starting to set up other roles in some varied films.

You can now expect to see her in the upcoming Oliver Stone film, SAVAGES.

The film has a pretty impressive ensemble cast lined up already, with Emile Hirsch (INTO THE WILD) and Aaron Johnson (KICK-ASS) as two marijuana kingpins living in Laguna Beach. When their friend, played by Blake Lively (GREEN LANTERN), is kidnapped, they are blackmailed into helping out the Baja Cartel. Other cast members include Benicio Del Toro, Uma Thurman, and John Travolta. Maestro will play Del Toro’s wife in the film, a woman who is seemingly a soccer mom, yet has a dark gang-riddled past. Blu-ray Review: TRAFFIC

Blu-ray Rating: 2.5/5

Since this is an older film and most people probably already have their opinions on it, I will not be reviewing the actual film itself and instead review the Blu-ray set as a whole.

If anyone remembers the 2000 Academy Awards, they might remember a little film by Steven Soderbergh called TRAFFIC that took the ceremony by storm. Although the film didn’t end up winning Best Picture (neither did Soderbergh’s other film of 2000, ERIN BROCKOVICH), it did end up winning Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Benicio Del Toro, Best Film Editing, and Best Adapted Screenplay. But can a film that brought magic in 2000 do the same ten years later on its Blu-ray release? Continue reading “Blu-ray Review: TRAFFIC”

Sean Penn is feeling like a STOOGE again

Awhile back, we reported that Sean Penn had dropped out of the Farrelly brothers’ feature-length THREE STOOGES film, in which he was set to play Larry Fine. Then we reported that Paul Giamatti was set to take his place. Now, it looks like Sean Penn is back in.

Penn’s reason for originally pulling out of the film was reported as relating to family issues. Bobby Farrelly was quoted when talking about the subject, “we got him back. He always said he wanted to do it after, you know, taking care of his family.” Continue reading “Sean Penn is feeling like a STOOGE again”

Official website for THE WOLFMAN launches

Wolfman

Hopefully, no werewolves will be howling at the full moon tonight. I am quite curious as to what a bunch of Lycanthropes would do on New Years. Do they even recognize it is New Years in that form? They might be too busy howling in pleasure, as Universal has just launched the official website for THE WOLFMAN.

The site actually has some pretty cool stuff. There is a section called “Discover Lycanthropy” that contains a plethora of facts and information about werewolves and lycanthropy. Additionally, there is a section called “Explore Blackmoor,” which probably will have information about the town from the film. Continue reading “Official website for THE WOLFMAN launches”
