GATW Podcast Ep. 15: Cruise Control

Depending on who you ask, you’ll get a different answer about their opinion on a certain very famous actor. Some love him for his charismatic approach to acting, others don’t love him for his less-than-normal lifestyle. The actor in question happens to be Tom Cruise, probably one of the most recognizable actors of the past 20 years. With his latest film KNIGHT AND DAY getting released, we thought it would be fun to talk about some of his past features that we love and why we love them.

GATW Podcast Ep. 14: 15 Years of Pixar

Pixar has been known for not only being one of the most creative studios still working today, but has continually put out high quality films. The scope of their success is incredible, and they are bringing their filmography full circle with the second sequel to TOY STORY. The release of TOY STORY 3 proves that their reach transcends generations, since it appeals to kids and adults who were kids when the original was released.

GATW Podcast Ep. 13: TV to Film

I love it when a plan comes together! I also love making overtly obvious film references just because they are relevant! Said relevance comes from the fact that THE A-TEAM is kicking down the doors of your local cineplex to fill your eyes full with its Liam Neeson goodness. There’s no better way to ring in this summer movie than to talk about its roots, because it started as a television series. So we’re here to honor those shows that made it to the big screen, and name drop some of our favorites!

GATW Podcast Ep. 12: On The Road Again

In the past year, road movies have hit the mainstream once again, and public interest has never been higher. This resurgence of interest has ultimately led to Russell Brand reprising his role of Aldous Snow from FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL in the international road movie GET HIM TO THE GREEK. To celebrate the film and genre, we have a talk about our favorite road movies.

GATW Podcast Ep. 11: Max Pain

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m still trying to figure out why the official theme song for PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME isn’t Cher’s “If I could turn back time.” I can’t help but wonder things like this with PRINCE OF PERSIA being this weekends big summer action movie, one that just so happens to be based off a video game series. Video game movies often aren’t received very well, but they keep coming out. But can PRINCE OF PERSIA break the cycle with its high production costs and quality actors? I guess we’ll find out, but until then let’s talk the good, the bad, and the video game movie.

GATW Podcast Ep. 10: The Great Toon Swoon

The SHREK series is one that has met much financial and critical success since the first film was released back in 2001. The series has already grossed over a billion dollars just from the first three films, and finally, DreamWorks has decided to wrap up the series with SHREK FOREVER AFTER. The film’s release inspired us to talk about our favorite animated films of all time. Since Hollywood’s animation has moved more in favor of CG, we decided to include all forms of animation in our lists. And boy, our tastes in animated films are very eclectic!

GATW Podcast Ep. 8: Instant Gratification

There’s a little service that all of us GATW Podcasters use constantly; and that service is Netflix’s Watch Instantly option. After realizing we mention it in just about every episode, we decided it was due time to dedicate an episode to it. We really liked the idea a lot, and thought it would be cool to check up on the service every six months or so since its line-up is always changing. This will mark our first, and definitely not our last Netflix episode!

GATW Podcast Ep. 7: Future of Marvel

IRON MAN 2 is practically here, and we figured there would be no better way to reign in one of the biggest summer blockbusters than to dedicate an entire episode to Marvel. The future of Marvel is so bright these days (and dare we say ambitiously so) that it’s gonna need shades.
