Time for a 24 movie update

24 may be over as far as the TV series goes, but it’s no secret that the hit show will probably be transitioning to the big screen. Although there was a lot of initial speculation and talk when it was first announced that the show was ending, it has pretty much bottomed off since then. Now we are starting to hear rumblings about it again, which means Jack Bauer must have an itchy trigger finger.

Howard Gordon, an executive producer on 24 says that they already have a script ready to go. Gordon says:

“There is a draft that is in. No one is in a position right now to know when or what the movie will be, exactly.  Now that the TV show is over, the movie will be it’s own thing.” Continue reading “Time for a 24 movie update”

KUNG FU PANDA: THE KABOOM OF DOOM adds Van Damme

I remember watching the STREET FIGHTER movie as a kid and thinking,”Why in the hell is a Belgian actor playing an American hero?” Then the answer would come shortly after when he started kicking some major ass. Sadly, the magic of that film has worn off with age, but Jean-Claude Van Damme is just as cool as ever. Now we can expect him to pop up in the highly anticipated sequel, KUNG FU PANDA: THE KABOOM OF DOOM. Continue reading “KUNG FU PANDA: THE KABOOM OF DOOM adds Van Damme”

Legendary Pictures picks up the rights to MASS EFFECT video game series

It’s not a big secret that I’m a devout video gamer who proudly has picked up all three of the current generation of systems (I like to be diverse!). I’m almost certain that anyone who is a gamer like me, knows who Bioware is. Bioware is a game production company that is known for continually putting out extremely high quality games with long play times, and expansive new universes. One of the most popular of their series is MASS EFFECT for the Xbox 360 and PC. It seems that MASS EFFECT may be hitting mainstream film crowds, as Legendary Pictures has picked up the rights. Jerry Bruckheimer goes LIGHTSPEED with Disney

I wouldn’t put it as a rule of thumb, but I generally dig movies that Jerry Bruckheimer produces. They are usually fun, action-packed adventures that help you let loose and have a good time. Of course, everyone remembers the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films that he made with Disney, and their most recent effort PRINCE OF PERSIA is looking pretty damn good. Now they’re looking to go to Space together, as Disney has bought a pitch for him to produce called LIGHTSPEED. Continue reading “Jerry Bruckheimer goes LIGHTSPEED with Disney”

Andy Serkis will direct his very first feature

Andy Serkis has a very interesting acting career, and has proved himself to be very diverse at his craft. Not only is he really talented, but he also is a well established motion-capture actor too. Two of his most well known motion capture roles were that of Gollum in the LORD OF THE RINGS franchise (he also provided the voice), and KING KONG in Peter Jackson’s remake. Now it seems he wants to add director to his resume and is prepping for his first feature. GATW Podcast Ep. 10: The Great Toon Swoon

The SHREK series is one that has met much financial and critical success since the first film was released back in 2001. The series has already grossed over a billion dollars just from the first three films, and finally, DreamWorks has decided to wrap up the series with SHREK FOREVER AFTER. The film’s release inspired us to talk about our favorite animated films of all time. Since Hollywood’s animation has moved more in favor of CG, we decided to include all forms of animation in our lists. And boy, our tastes in animated films are very eclectic!

You can check out the episode and its synopsis after the break! Continue reading “GATW Podcast Ep. 10: The Great Toon Swoon”

Sony proves their faith in BATTLE: LOS ANGELES

Battle: Los Angeles

Finding the perfect release date for a film is a very important aspect to its release that sometimes gets overlooked. For those of us who notice, we always found it pretty strange that Sony was planning on releasing their Sci-fi action movie BATTLE: LOS ANGELES in February. February is usually a slower month for cinema (box office wise), which makes it an odd place for an action film. Sony has officially moved it to a much more appropriate date, leading many to believe they could have an unexpected hit on their hands. The film will star Emma Stone, and is based off the novel by Kathryn Stockett. It seems now they are in negotiations with someone to fill the role of Stone’s boyfriend in the film. Gerard Butler to be the male lead in A STAR IS BORN?

Gerard Butler A Star Is Born

A STAR IS BORN is a remake that’s basically inevitable at this point. Finding the male lead for the film has been a pretty big challenge from the get-go, with almost every one of their picks being Oscar worthy, and none of them being interested. Now it seems they’ve given up that dream, and moved on to a more Spartan one with Gerard Butler. Continue reading “Gerard Butler to be the male lead in A STAR IS BORN?”
