Will Ferrell taking a guest spot on "The Office," to aid Steve Carell's exit

Will Ferrell cameos are usually some of the best out there, as he seems to really run with it every time. Do you remember what you thought when he came down the stairs in WEDDING CRASHERS? I do. I, along with the rest of the theater, began cheering and laughing. Subsequently, that cameo ended up being one of the highlights of the film.

It looks like he has another high profile guest spot coming up soon, this time in the TV world. He will be joining a four episode arc at the end of the season as a way to lead up to Carell’s departure from the show. Emile Hirsch to live THE MOTEL LIFE

Emile Hirsch is an actor I would watch in just about any role, because he is just that good. Even when he took up the mantle of Speed Racer in what ended up being a horrendous, yet incredibly fun adaptation, he brought a lot of enjoyment and fun to the character.

Now, after what seems like a while out of the spotlight, he is going to be taking up a role in THE MOTEL LIFE, based off a novel by Willy Vlautin. The story follows two brothers who face turmoil after one drunkenly hits a teenager on a bike with his car. They flee their motel-ridden lives in Reno to escape any sort of blame for the kid’s death. Continue reading “Emile Hirsch to live THE MOTEL LIFE”

AMERICAN: THE BILL HICKS STORY gets its release plan

American: The Bill Hicks Story

AMERICAN: THE BILL HICKS STORY is a fascinating documentary about a man misunderstood. Sure, he had his ups and downs, but by the end of his life many people had a certain idea about him that wasn’t exactly true. In the film, they clear the air a bit, and truly give him the kind of praise and attention that he deserves.

The film ran the film festival circuit, and now everyone else will be able to see it.On April 8, the film will open in New York City, and over the next month will expand into 25 more theaters. At the same time, they will be releasing the film through Video On Demand services through Gravitas Ventures so that it can reach the widest possible audience. This is a really great choice for the film, because more people will now have the opportunity to see it. Continue reading “AMERICAN: THE BILL HICKS STORY gets its release plan”

24 movie still on; filming starting in the next year

The 24 movie has been on a pretty tumultuous path since it was first announced, leaving all of us wondering if the film will actually even happen. The recent news that screenwriter Billy Ray’s script had been rejected by the studio didn’t help the case. It seems that hasn’t stopped the movie yet, and they are still hard at work trying to bring Jack Bauer to the big screen.

This update comes directly from Jack himself, Kiefer Sutherland, and you can check it out after the break. Continue reading “24 movie still on; filming starting in the next year”

Marvel hires a writer to pen BLACK PANTHER

We’ve known for a while that Marvel was seizing the opportunity that Disney gave them, with a big interest in bringing many of their lesser-known heroes to the forefront of their universe. Yet, very few of those heroes have been brought to the big screen. Now it looks like they are very serious about turning Black Panther, one of the heroes a bit more well-known to the comic community yet mostly unknown to the general public, into one of those properties.

Marvel has officially brought on Mark Bailey to pen the adaptation of the comic; Bailey is most well-known for his work in documentaries such as PANDEMIC: FACING AIDS. It is a little peculiar that Marvel chose someone who hasn’t really proven themselves as a screenwriter for a film like BLACK PANTHER. Continue reading “Marvel hires a writer to pen BLACK PANTHER”

21 JUMP STREET movie to begin shooting in April

The 21 JUMP STREET film reboot has been a roundabout affair for a really long time, and it wasn’t until Jonah Hill got involved that the ball actually started rolling. We then knew that it was really on the fast track whenever Channing Tatum was cast as one of the leads.

We now have learned that the film is all set to film, and will begin shooting this April in New Orleans. Continue reading “21 JUMP STREET movie to begin shooting in April”

John Hawkes bags two new roles in CHRONICLE and THE PLAYROOM

GATW is a John Hawkes-lovin’ bunch, and we are always excited when he is put into a new role. He’s not a household name actor, an unfortunate shame because he absolutely deserves to be. Instead, he is often considered an indie film darling of sorts.

Luckily for us, Hawkes talent has been recognized and he will be taking up two new roles in two new films titled CHRONICLE and THE PLAYROOM. Continue reading “John Hawkes bags two new roles in CHRONICLE and THE PLAYROOM”

Sacha Baron Cohen-starring Freddie Mercury biopic to film this year

I never would have considered putting Sacha Baron Cohen into the role of one of music’s greatest frontmen, Queen’s Freddie Mercury, but now that he is in the role it seems to make perfect sense. In fact, I can’t even imagine anyone else taking up the role.

Now, the project is all set to go behind the cameras this year and we’ve got an update to prove it. Continue reading “Sacha Baron Cohen-starring Freddie Mercury biopic to film this year”
