Sequel to THE MUPPETS moves forward without Jason Segel as screenwriter

The Muppets are back in a big way. Our felt covered friends were greeted with immense critical acclaim for their film THE MUPPETS, which went on to gross more than $150 million worldwide. With that kind of dough, I bet Kermit sings “Bein’ Green” with a slightly different connotation now.

Hot off the heels of their big Oscar win for best original song, The Muppets are celebrating by moving forward with a sequel to their big self-titled return to the silver screen without Jason Segel, the co-writer of the original. GHOSTBUSTERS 3 has been a long gestating project out in the City of Angels. One week, we’ll hear that the project is definitely happening with all the cast involved, only to be followed up a week or so later with a conflicting report. Even Forrest Gump would get worn out from this ping pong match of emotions. But GHOSTBUSTERS is a series that is really important to a lot of people, including myself, and it’s almost impossible to ignore stories like these.

So this weeks big GHOSTBUSTERS news is all about why the film is not happening. Hit the break for more! Continue reading “Bill Murray ends any chance of GHOSTBUSTERS 3”

This may not be Marvel’s first attempt at bringing THE FIRST AVENGER to the big screen, but this is easily the quintessential version. We’ve all seen it, and we were very happy to dig right in.

We also dig into the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN trailer, and Captain Planet even showed up for a bit.

Judge this; new photo of Judge Dredd hits the web

Judge Dredd is making his way back to theaters, this time with Karl Urban underneath the helmet. The project is being kept under wraps surprisingly well, with very little known about the project up to this point. As curious as it leaves us, it is probably for the best, especially in the shadows of the 1995 Sylvester Stallone in the title role. However, they aren’t hiding the fact that the Judge looks bad-ass.

This isn’t our first look at DREDD, however, this is one of the most clear ones we have been shown. Urban looks really great in the role, although he is, of course, hidden underneath Dredd’s mask. He fully exudes the kind of persona that I’d like to see on Dredd, and seems to be really great casting. Continue reading “Judge this; new photo of Judge Dredd hits the web”

First Look: Thorin Oakenshield from THE HOBBIT

Behold! The non-stop teases coming from the production of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of THE HOBBIT continues on today, with yet another look at one of the many dwarves that make up the cast of the film. For those who aren’t familiar with THE HOBBIT, the story is a lot more dwarf-centric than LORD OF THE RINGS is.

Thorin is a dwarf prince who has a personal vendetta against the film’s main villain, a dragon named Smaug. Smaug has killed many of Thorin’s family and their people, along with stealing their collection of gold and jewels. This is what leads Thorin and his company to Bilbo’s doorstep, where Gandalf suggests Bilbo join their journey. Also in the photo is Thorin’s sword Orcist, which is commonly known as the Goblin-Cleaver. In honor of the end of the series, we discuss some of our favorite movie adaptations of books. You can check out the episode after the break!

First Look: Kili and Fili from Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT

THE HOBBIT is on its way, with Peter Jackson behind the camera again, bringing J.R.R. Tolkien’s first published novel to life. As production on the film continues on, there has been a steady flow of teases being released, showing off characters and releasing a production diaries. Although I’ve been avoiding the diaries, as I’d like to watch them after the film is released, that won’t stop me from checking out character photos.

Today we get a character photo that shows off Kili and Fili, two young dwarves who join Bilbo on his journey to defeat Smaug. Check it out after the break. Continue reading “First Look: Kili and Fili from Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT”

Alexandra Daddario cast as lead in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3D

Leatherface is approaching his return in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3D, which is quickly coming together as production approaches. A couple of weeks ago, we got a little bit of insight on the plot of the upcoming film, and were introduced to the female lead of the film, Heather.

There is now a face to the character, as Alexandra Daddario (PERCY JACKSON) has been cast in the role.

In the film, Heather travels to Texas to pick up an inheritance she was awarded, but finds out she shares lineage with none other than Leatherface. What a shock that must be, not exactly the thing you’d hope to pop up on ancestry.com. Joining her will be Tania Raymonde (Lost), who will play her best friend Nikki.
