DESPICABLE ME gets another new teaser

Despicable me

DESPICABLE ME is a movie that somehow had slipped past my radar. I literally knew nothing about this movie when I saw the trailer before AVATAR. Mid-trailer, I knew that this movie was going to be awesome. Steve Carell has the perfect voice for animated features, which gives this film a lot of clout. MARMADUKE teaser is full of angst

MARMADUKE

A teaser for the upcoming MARMADUKE live action film has hit the web, just to give us a taste of what the film will be like. The story takes place when Marmaduke (voiced by Owen Wilson) and his family move from Kansas to Orange County. The film is supposed to be a teen drama about dogs.

The trailer is an obvious Sspoof of the Fox TV series “The O.C.” which could turn many people away, but actually is what hooked me. I hope this doesn’t ruin my cred, but I love “The O.C.”. If MARMADUKE has captured a similar feel to the show, I think it could end up being a really great movie.

Warner Bros. is making MARVIN THE MARTIAN movie

MARVIN THE MARTIAN

Move over Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, there is a new Looney Tune going front and center. MARVIN THE MARTIAN is booked to get the big screen treatment, solo-style. The movie will be a CG and live action hybrid, with Marvin being CG and the rest of the world being live action.

The film also has a director, Alex Zamm, who was attached to the live-action HONG KONG PHOOEY film we reported about over the summer. Also attached to the project are writers Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove, who previously wrote for “Spin City,” and are currently writing a feature-length CHIPS movie. Additionally, they are looking at some big names to voice the Martian, like Mike Myers. Continue reading “Warner Bros. is making MARVIN THE MARTIAN movie”

JACKASS will be grossing us out in 3-D

Jackass

Earlier this month, we reported that the third JACKASS movie might be coming at us in 3-D. Now we know for sure that Johnny Knoxville and the guys will be grossing us out in all 3 dimensions late next year. Of course the extremely outspoken Mr. Knoxville, cracked a joke about this announcement.

Check out what he had to say about the film, after the jump! Continue reading “JACKASS will be grossing us out in 3-D”

THE HANGOVER 2 to be set in Thailand?

THE HANGOVER

THE HANGOVER was the big sleeper hit of the summer, and rightfully so. It had a hilarious cast, outrageous plot, and enough cursing to make you re-evaluate your own vocabulary. A sequel was announced a while back, and is leaving people anxious as to what the plot might be. Word is getting out that the boys might be heading overseas.

Sources are telling the guys over at CHUD that the sequel will take place in Thailand. Since the film still has a while to go before it is released the plot could change, but for now this is their plan.  Additionally, they were told that Thailand was the original idea for OLD SCHOOL DOS, the canceled sequel to the 2003 film OLD SCHOOL.

I’m not all that positive how I feel about this movie yet. The first one was so good, but they played out the basic idea of a hangover, and I’d like to see something different. Hopefully they don’t just throw the boys into the same situation under different pretenses. THE HANGOVER 2 is set to come out Memorial Day weekend 2011.

Taylor Lautner is going to CANCUN

Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner is a lucky dude, and it looks like he has hit the big time. After helping make TWILIGHT a gajillion dollars, this kid has so many opportunities opening up for him. Summit, the production company that brought us TWILIGHT, isn’t ready to give up this (usually shirtless) moneymaking machine.

They will make a movie called CANCUN, an action flick about a college couple who goes vacationing in, you guessed it, Cancun. Much to Taylor’s dismay, his girlfriend is kidnapped by a drug cartel and it is up to him to save her. The movie is said to make use of Taylor’s skills at martial arts, the kid is a champion!

I actually am excited about this movie. No, I’m not really expecting anything amazing, but I think this could be fun. I really hope that they make a pretty heavy focus on the martial arts, and not so much on explosions and other eye candies. Last week while hosting “SNL,” Taylor showed off his martial arts skills and killed it. Keep your eyes open for this movie, I know I will.

Hit-Girl character poster is KICK-ASS

HIT GIRL CUT

KICK-ASS was recently shown at Harry Knowles’ (of Ain’t It Cool News fame) Butt-Numb-A-Thon 24 hour movie marathon in Austin, and was received very strongly by the crowd. I know first-hand that this movie is one of the biggest topics at comic shops right now. Needless to say, this film is getting some buzz. Although the movie had some trouble finding distributors, it is now on the fast track to being one of the best and biggest films of 2010.

Lionsgate has been flooding us with awesome KICK-ASS stuff lately to pump us up. First we got the teaser trailer, followed by awesome character posters of Kick-Ass, Red Mist, Big Daddy, and now Hit-Girl. I just have to say, all the characters look really great. I am so excited for this movie to come out.

WILD HOGS 2: BACHELOR RIDE crashes and burns

WILD HOGS

Mickey Mouse must be pissed about something, first he canceled 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, then he canned WEDDING BANNED. Now, it looks like the completely unnecessary WILD HOGS 2: BACHELOR RIDE has put its leather garb away, and hopefully for good.

The original was the story of four old idiots who went on a stupid motorcycle trip to make Tim Allen’s character feel better about his stupid divorce (sorry, I’m bitter). The sequel, which was in the scripting stage, was hiring new writers to revise the script. Discussions were also ongoing to bring back the four principal actors (John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence, and William H. Macy), but were stopped after the cancellation.

I can’t explain how much I hated the original (you could probably tell), and wouldn’t even considering paying to see a second one. However, I am surprised this movie was canceled. The first one was a giant success, and I did talk to a lot of people who liked it. We’ll see if they try to revive the series later, but for now, sayonara.

Three new IRON MAN 2 photos!

NEofzptqG1CGru_1_3

IRON MAN 2 is fast approaching, and at this point Marvel will do anything to get our attention (you’ve always had my attention, Marvel!) to remind us how awesome this movie is going to be. At this point is just a waiting game till we get a trailer.

Today is the first day since Monday that we haven’t received a viral ad, but Marvel did put out these three production stills. These pictures are nothing groundbreaking, but it seems that they are trying to reassure the fanbase that the film will still be heavily character focused and not just explosions. This is the right move, because it is definitely working. The charm of the first film is really what sold it for me. They captured Tony Stark perfectly, it made the inner Marvel fan-boy in me squeal (no comment if I actually squealed).

You can check out the other two pictures after the jump! Continue reading “Three new IRON MAN 2 photos!”

Is ON STRANGER TIDES in unfamiliar water?

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES

The PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series is a gold mine that both Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer aren’t ready to give up on. That would explain ON STRANGER TIDES, a fourth installment in the hit series that takes place after a very straight-forward closing point in the third film. After the success that the first one was, there was no doubt that sequels would come. ON STRANGER TIDES director Rob Marshall recently spoke about where the movie is in pre-production, and made many uncertain if the film will actually happen.

Check out what he said after the jump! Continue reading “Is ON STRANGER TIDES in unfamiliar water?”
