Sean Penn is feeling like a STOOGE again

Awhile back, we reported that Sean Penn had dropped out of the Farrelly brothers’ feature-length THREE STOOGES film, in which he was set to play Larry Fine. Then we reported that Paul Giamatti was set to take his place. Now, it looks like Sean Penn is back in.

Penn’s reason for originally pulling out of the film was reported as relating to family issues. Bobby Farrelly was quoted when talking about the subject, “we got him back. He always said he wanted to do it after, you know, taking care of his family.” Continue reading “Sean Penn is feeling like a STOOGE again”

Pierre Morel set to direct DUNE remake

A while back, we reported that the DUNE remake’s attached director Peter Berg would not be involved with the film. The big rumor was that Neill Blomkamp, director of the giant hit DISTRICT 9, would pick up the project. Now we know for sure who the director will be – Pierre Morel, who directed TAKEN. Disney buys stake in POW! Entertainment

Stan “The Man” Lee is easily one of the most creative minds in comics. In fact, most of the most popular Marvel heroes were created by Lee. In 2005 he helped form POW! Entertainment to make an array of new media properties. Along with Marvel, Disney acquired POW! on Thursday. It seems like Disney wants to be the go to source for superheroes. Kevin Smith's HIT SOMEBODY to film this year?

I don’t know a single person that enjoyed the trailer to COP OUT, everyone agrees that it doesn’t look funny. Many people believe it is because Kevin Smith did not write it, as it is his first feature that he is only directing. Fans of Smith’s writing will be pleased to hear that his next feature he wrote, HIT SOMEBODY, will probably film this year. Continue reading “Kevin Smith's HIT SOMEBODY to film this year?”

Blu-ray Review: THE FINAL DESTINATION

Blu-ray Rating: 7/10

This review will only cover the Blu-ray features and not the actual film. If you want to read James’ review of the film, you can do so HERE.

In some ways, it is hard to judge some of the features of this Blu-ray release. For example, if you saw this film in theaters most likely you saw it in 3D. Well, that is no different for the Blu-ray release, it contains both the 2D version and the 3D version. Unfortunately for the 3D version, it requires the cheap paper glasses with the red and cyan lenses. Continue reading “Blu-ray Review: THE FINAL DESTINATION”

mad-max

Looks like Mel Gibson will be involved with MAD MAX: FURY ROAD after all. Although it isn’t quite in the capacity many people probably wish it was. It looks like Gibson’s production company, Icon Entertainment, will be producing MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, the fourth film in the hit franchise. Kevin Smith's Quickstop Entertainment closes

Kevin Smith

I’ve been going to the Quickstop Entertainment website in some form or fashion for a very long time. I started back in 2001 when movie site Poop Shoot.com, which was based off of the online movie news site Kevin Smith created for JAY & SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, was launched. The site got my attention again when it transformed into Quickstop Entertainment, which was the home of Smith’s podcast “Smodcast,” was released. Smith has now given the site to its webmaster, Ken Plume, and parted ways with the project. Continue reading “Kevin Smith's Quickstop Entertainment closes”

Disney's purchase of Marvel will be official tonight

Hulk White

A while back we reported that Disney had plans to buy Marvel in a very expensive, 4 billion dollar purchase. Disney from the get-go claimed that they were not going to make any changes to Marvel because “If it ain’t broke…”. The deal that started much controversy to comic fans everywhere is set to be official by the end of the day.

You can see the press release after the jump! Continue reading “Disney's purchase of Marvel will be official tonight”

Official website for THE WOLFMAN launches

Wolfman

Hopefully, no werewolves will be howling at the full moon tonight. I am quite curious as to what a bunch of Lycanthropes would do on New Years. Do they even recognize it is New Years in that form? They might be too busy howling in pleasure, as Universal has just launched the official website for THE WOLFMAN.

The site actually has some pretty cool stuff. There is a section called “Discover Lycanthropy” that contains a plethora of facts and information about werewolves and lycanthropy. Additionally, there is a section called “Explore Blackmoor,” which probably will have information about the town from the film. Continue reading “Official website for THE WOLFMAN launches”

New pictures for THE LAST AIRBENDER

airbender2a

I can’t even explain how excited I am for THE LAST AIRBENDER. I honestly never thought I would be excited about anything related to M. Night Shyamalan after his long string of awful films. Regardless, it is his writing that I have problems with, not his very well-planned and executed directing.

THE LAST AIRBENDER is still a while away, but they are trying to get its large fanbase excited for the film. And that’s why they have released this most recent set of pictures that will be in an upcoming issue of Empire. You can check out the other two photos after the jump!
