Blu-ray Review: PRIDE & PREJUDICE

Blu-ray rating: 7/10

PRIDE & PREJUDICE is one of the most popular and well-respected novels by the incomparable Jane Austen. Her books are well known worldwide, and have inspired readers for almost two centuries. PRIDE & PREJUDICE has spawned countless adaptations through various forms of media, including the highly revered 1995 miniseries that aired on the BBC.

Needless to say, many people weren’t too excited about the 2005 version being made, solely because the 1995 version is so close to many peoples’ hearts. The only problem was that the 2005 version was actually really good, and ended up stealing the hearts of many that watched it. It ended up being a critical and commercial success. Sci-fi novel "The Electric Church" to be adapted by Sony

I’m typically not a big fan of sci-fi movies, but this past year has changed my mind on that a little bit. So many good sci-fi movies were released in 2009, and it makes me wonder if my tastes have changed. Sony has a new sci-fi flick on the way, and hopefully this one will surprise me like the others did.

Sony is planning on making a feature adaptation of “The Electric Church,” a sci-fi novel by Jeff Somers. As of right now the film is called the AVERY CATES PROJECT, based off the name of the main character of the novel. The book is supposed to be very action-packed. Interview: Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, and Jake Abel (PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF)

Last Monday I got to interview the main cast members of PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF about their upcoming movie. I was lucky enough to sit down with Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson), Brandon T. Jackson (Grover Underwood), Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth Chase), and Jake Abel (Luke Castallen). I have to say, this cast has wonderful chemistry with each other. You can see it in the movie, but you can really see it in real life. They were all wonderful and are extremely talented actors.

The interview was conducted with myself and John P. Meyer of Pegasus News. You can check out the highlights from the interview and some thoughts on footage they showed us after the jump! NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 3 planned?

When the second NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM went on to gross over $400 million in box office revenues, it basically guaranteed that there would be another sequel. Despite the fact that reviews for the second film were extremely mixed, people still flocked to the theaters to see it. Now thanks to Thomas Lennon, we know that the third film is most likely on its way.

Check out what he had to say about the potential project after the jump! Continue reading “NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 3 planned?”

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE red band trailer

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE should not look good at all, but it surprisingly does. Even the green band trailer had me cracking up, but this new red band trailer is killer. It gives you a better idea as to what to expect from the movie. This movie could have just as easily been an unfunny PG-13 movie, but luckily for us they went for the R-rating.

AMC will make "The Walking Dead"

“The Walking Dead” is one of my favorite comics; even when I can’t afford any comics I have to find a couple dollars to pick this one up. The idea behind the comic is that it would be a long-running zombie story, just like reality would be. Reality doesn’t just end after two hours like movies do, and it certainly doesn’t end when the main character dies. The writer of the comic, Robert Kirkman, has proved time and time again that no one is safe by killing off many major characters.

We told you a while back that Frank Darabont had expressed interest in adapting the comic to a series. Now it’s official, and AMC has picked up that series. Continue reading “AMC will make "The Walking Dead"”

Peter Dinklage will be one of THE KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM

The article has been updated with further information since its first publishing.

Peter Dinklage is a talented actor who has wowed us repeatedly with outstanding performances, like in THE STATION AGENT. Although Dinklage isn’t well-known for playing medieval-style characters, he did appear in THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN as Trumpkin. But now it looks like he is returning to that setting, and will be one of THE KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM.

You can check out the official synopsis for the film after the jump! Continue reading “Peter Dinklage will be one of THE KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM”

New TRON LEGACY poster

I grew up watching TRON, constantly watching it throughout my childhood. When I got a little bit older, a computer game was released, titled “Tron 2.0.” I played the game religiously for a very long time. Needless to say, I’ve been a TRON fan for most of my life. When TRON LEGACY was announced, many people were very excited for it, especially since the original was released in 1982 and it has had no previous sequels. Unfortunately, it is still a ways away and they like teasing us about it.

You can check out the a new poster for TRON LEGACY after the jump! Continue reading “New TRON LEGACY poster”

New MACGRUBER green band trailer for the kiddies

MACGRUBER is a fairly popular and usually unfunny “Saturday Night Live” skit that has now been adapted into the show’s first feature-length movie in ten years. Just the other day we let you know that a very red band trailer came out, and now we have a little more family-friendly green band trailer.

You can check out the green band after the jump! Continue reading “New MACGRUBER green band trailer for the kiddies”

D.J. Caruso will direct sci-fi movie I AM NUMBER FOUR

D.J. Caruso really broke into the mainstream when he directed the surprise hit DISTURBIA, and he hasn’t had a hard time finding a job since. He went on to direct EAGLE EYE, which had a much harder time finding a fan base. He will be making THE ART OF MAKING MONEY with Chris Pine soon, and now we know his next project.

Caruso is set to direct a film adaptation of I AM NUMBER FOUR, a young adult sci-fi book that is set to be released this fall. The book was written by the infamous James Frey (the guy whose debut novel made Oprah’s Book Club, and then was revealed to be a lie) and Joby Hughes. The screenplay was written by “Smallville” creators Al Gough and Miles Millar. Continue reading “D.J. Caruso will direct sci-fi movie I AM NUMBER FOUR”
