I grew up watching the unforgettable classic ARTHUR. The star Dudley Moore was so great in the role. Being that the original film is so important to me, many would figure that I would not want a remake to happen. That is not the case for ARTHUR though, and I was very excited when a remake with Russell Brand was announced. Russell Brand is perfect casting for the role, but it looks like the studio is aiming pretty high with the supporting roles. Continue reading “ARTHUR remake wants Meryl Streep?”

Joel Silver and Dark Castle to buy SPLICE?
SPLICE took Sundance by storm last month. Being that most of the deals at Sundance are relatively small, you don’t always hear about them. Now it seems that Joel Silver and Dark Castle want to change that, as he is reportedly interested in purchasing SPLICE and giving it some major funding. Continue reading “Joel Silver and Dark Castle to buy SPLICE?”
THE THREE MUSKETEERS will band together again
There have been many film adaptations of THE THREE MUSKETEERS in film history. Many of which have been very popular, and extremely well-received. It seems that another MUSKETEERS movie is in the works, it will be the first since the atrocity that was 2001’s THE MUSKETEER. Continue reading “THE THREE MUSKETEERS will band together again”
Russell Brand to be a pee-wee soccer coach
Russell Brand hit Hollywood pretty hard after FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. Since then, he has had a bestselling memoir, gotten engaged to Katy Perry, and lined up a few pretty decent-sounding films. Now he is going to add coach to his resume, in an as-yet-untitled film that sounds suspiciously like THE MIGHTY DUCKS. Continue reading “Russell Brand to be a pee-wee soccer coach”
Pierce Brosnan, Ed Harris, and Jim Gaffigan join SALVATION BOULEVARD
Pierce Brosnan has a lot going for him these days. Not only was he a really great Bond (who got some really crappy movies), but he is successfully branching out in his career after Bond. Some of the last films he’s been in have been pretty huge, PERCY JACKSON and MAMMA MIA! come to mind. It looks like he feels it is time for a little indie movie, and it will be SALVATION BOULEVARD. Continue reading “Pierce Brosnan, Ed Harris, and Jim Gaffigan join SALVATION BOULEVARD”
Trailer for ONDINE
ONDINE is a little Irish movie starring Colin Farrell, about a fisherman who accidentally catches a woman in his net while working. After his daughter meets the strange woman, she is convinced the woman is a mermaid. The film was directed by Neil Jordan, who previously directed INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE and THE CRYING GAME.
The film looks pretty interesting, and seems like a departure from the route a film like this would usually go. The trailer takes a pretty suspenseful, exciting turn that proves it is more than just a drama, as the first half would lead you to believe.
You can check out the trailer for yourself after the jump! Continue reading “Trailer for ONDINE”
ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake moving forward
A remake of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK has been in development hell for a pretty long time. Fans of the original have been mostly pleased that the film has not happened, but they’ll be dismayed to hear that the film is now on the fast track. After a rewrite by Allan Loeb (writer of WALL STREET 2), the film has been brought back to life. Continue reading “ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake moving forward”
Mark Millar to direct an independently financed superhero film
Comic book scribe Mark Millar has been in the public eye quite a bit in the past couple of years. Between the film adaptations of WANTED and the upcoming KICK-ASS (which has gotten a ridiculous amount of hype), he has become somewhat of a household name. Now it seems he wants to take a more direct (pun intended) connection to the general public.
Millar talked to IGN about an upcoming superhero film which he plans to direct. He claims that it is very different from the usual superhero film. Sadly, he doesn’t let out too much more about the film, but does admit that it will be filmed in Scotland this summer. He also says that he will probably take it on the festival circuit after Christmas. Continue reading “Mark Millar to direct an independently financed superhero film”
Joe Johnston explains the CAPTAIN AMERICA costume
Ever since FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA was announced, fans (including myself) have been extremely worried about what sort of costume he would have. I have explained the importance of Cap’s costume, and how detrimental it would be to change it too much. The LA Times recently spoke to director Joe Johnston about his upcoming film THE WOLFMAN, and got him to reveal quite a bit about FIRST AVENGER, including costume details.
Check out what he had to say after the jump! Continue reading “Joe Johnston explains the CAPTAIN AMERICA costume”
24 the movie has acquired a screenwriter
24 has been on the air for eight action packed seasons so far, and still brings in a very large audience. The real-time format of the show is such an intriguing idea for television, and really sets the show apart from the rest. As of now, the show isn’t signed for a ninth season and many are speculating the delay is because of the long rumored film adaptation. Many fans wonder if the hit show would transition well to film, Fox has hired a screenwriter to reassure them it would. Continue reading “24 the movie has acquired a screenwriter”
